I don't want to get all Chesterton's Fence here, but if you don't understand that a "microscopic snail" is an indicator species that's protected for the health of the entire ecosystem, you probably shouldn't be forming "good relationships" with developers

Ash dieback playing out like a high impact, low frequency event, like a hurricane, that periodically devastate and re-shape woodlands. The canopy is now all dead here, but look at that dense regeneration of hawthorn, blackthorn, field maple and some oaks.

Why isn’t THIS the front page story right now? Net migration to the UK halved from 2023 to 2024 (Government data shared by The Guardian). There is no problem with migration in the UK, it is fiction whipped up by the press. BBC News should be the one presenting these facts.

Brilliant Plover pic
A good couple of hours on the patch this morning Swifts and Hirundines on the move, 9 species of Warbler including 2 Garden Warblers, a few Whimbrel, Barwit, a Grey Plover, Yellow Wags, Tree Pipits, Wheatears. A Little Ringed PLover was being hostile to one of the few Ringed Plovers moving through.
