Do you know why a president would do all the most evil and heinous shit via Executive Order? Because his party can't easily make it law. And if they can't make it law, they can't make it last.

Don't let anyone make you feel like this is The End. Do not let them demoralize you. Live to see them die.

we made real progress over much of my life making society more accepting and reversing the veneration of bullies, and all that progress has been destroyed and watching these people revel in it fucking sucks

regardless of how centrist & moderate you try to position your politics, conservatives will still call you a Marxist, communist, anarchist, or socialist.

you might as well embrace leftism. Republicans are going to treat you the same way regardless.
NEW — OMB temporarily pauses all agency grants and loans programs.

Per copy of memo: "The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve."

The remote work debate was funny because it forced the question "Is a job something valuable you do or is it a place you go to be watched like daycare" and the answer for a lot of them was yeah it's the daycare thing now come on inside recess is over

The U.S. nonprofit sector is not prepared for this administration.

So many orgs have cultivated donors based on a position of apolitical neutrality. But no amount of "plucky do-gooderism" is going to make up for a solid plan to deal with current political realities...

Honestly, I feel like we just need to switch immigration discourse to 100%, "The food is so good."

I truly feel for my friends working for the federal gov't right now. I'm sure a lot of folks are weighing their options with this new administration.
Trump’s pick to head OMB Russell Vought says he wants government employees “traumatically affected” and “to not want to go to work because they are increasingly viewed as the villains.” Targeting our nation’s public servants is wrong and dangerous.
Opinion | I’m a Federal Employee. This Is What We Need Most in the Trump Era.
Practical support matters more than encouragement.

Actually pretty spot on. Puns are great.

It's astounding how many people (agency staff, volunteers, etc.) I regularly encounter who don't think stable housing is a priority when seeking to solve homelessness.

I just don't understand it. The biggest clue is in the name.

Do that many people not know what antonyms are?

A TWRP/NSP show on my birthday weekend, you say? Don't mind if I do!

Not a bad way to kick off a new year. Now I'll just wait right here for a few months until the concert date arrives...

Notes to my younger self:

Make friends.

Drop out of grad school.

Know your worth (and don't work for free).

When it comes to choosing a career, don't let perfect be the enemy of good enough.

Nonprofits don't meaningfully improve society, but working for them will make you miserable.

On working in nonprofits:

Do I enjoy my job?

No.

Do I get paid well?

Also, no.

Do I regret this choosing this career path?

Every single day.

I can't figure out how to move my nonprofit career forward, and maybe I never will.

But you know what I can do?

Get a frog tattoo.

Ribbit ribbit, motherfuckers.

This is so frustrating. The city is literally working toward encampment decommissioning with immediate housing (as opposed to sweeps). What else do they want?
Dallas HERO threatens to sue City of Dallas over failure to enforce law on homeless encampments
The organization backed by GOP donors says it's giving the city 60 days to address the issue before legal action is pursued.
