Cell therapies are in clinical trial for Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and other CNS indications. Here we show that glucose deprivation causes rapid cell death, more so than oxygen deprivation. Improving access to glucose in grafts could improve graft survival

*Highly recommend* a simple plug in called Color Oracle: colororacle.org It’s a free color blindness simulator. Just one click, it shows you in real time what people with common color vision impairments will see on your screen. I use it to doublecheck everything! #microscopy #figures #academicsky

Here’s my spreadsheet of starter packs (>80!) related to broadly ‘mechanistic biology’ plus some intriguing extras

Complete with collective nouns

I’ve been tracking these but now can’t keep up

Hope it’s helpful

For all those stem cells biologists differentiating hPSCs to neurons, want to know how the epigenetic memory of the donor tissue affects subsequent differentiation? We explore this in our recent paper 👇

Epigenetic memory of Lateral Ganglionic Eminence derived hiPSCs cannot overcome barriers in authentic MSN differentiation
Induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) have previously been shown to retain some of the epigenetic features associated with the tissues from which they were derived, which in turn can help the iPSCs t...
