Would you like to meet your characters?

Or is it a case of ‘you should never meet your hero’s’?

(This is turning into a crazy thought experiment - like asking a character ‘do you want to meet your writer?’)

This is all we need to know about how to fix the world.
Amazon is helping fund a $300 million build of a ballroom for the White House.

Independent bookstores are donating to food banks and organizations that help with food insecurity.

They are not the same.

It amazes me how many people give up their credibility just to get views.

I meet more than a few people who think getting the book deal is the final step.

I’m all like ‘congrats’ but if you want my unsolicited advice, start marketing yourself now, because publishing does not equal sales.

Yesterday I experienced that moment.

The one when you figure out the exact change your story needs to have everything fall into place and be the book you dreamed of it being.

So magical!

Sometimes I need a break from writing. Sometimes those breaks are long.

But I never worry they’re going to be forever. Inevitably my brain says ‘ok, I’m good now’ and the stories start up again.

My son started reading Pride and Prejudice on his own initiative, and it was a moment for me.

The beta readers have come through. They are lovely, thoughtful, and I definitely need a significant rewrite.

Can anyone share some thoughts on how to effectively mix first and third person in the same book? Any examples of when it’s been done to great effect?

Agree. Book bans are one of the first signs of severe social disease that we need to address before our society dies.
Pay attention, Canada. If Alberta is successful in this book banning, this will spread. Look around you, b/c this is how it starts. We're on the same ledge the US was on. And we either start fighting this right-wing rise now, or we follow the Americans over the edge.

Negatives are hard to hear, sure, but I think ‘yeah, addressing these comments is sure going to make this book kick ass’.

Watched Psycho last night. So good. It must’ve been shocking when it first came out. Anthony Perkins was so perfectly creepy in that movie.
