Dorset based amateur photographer with an interest for birds, volcanoes, nature, geography, natural disasters, football, and history. Proud father of 1 girl. Whatever ideology you follow, try to keep it about birds or volcanoes.
I just had a female Bullfinch along the Fleetsbridge public footpath, a nice 2026 tick.

We’ve been out prepping and servicing various Osprey nests around the harbour (more on that later) but massive thanks to the RSPB Arne team who allowed us to install a camera on a favoured perch for migrant Ospreys so we can read ring numbers. Raven said hello today! @rspbengland.bsky.social

Went to see my 1st Dorset Cirl Buntings today The first bird I saw briefly was what I thought was male, then what presumed was a female 1st winter? and then some ore male birds. The first picture is what I thought was the female bird. @dorsetbirdclub.bsky.social @harbourbirds.bsky.social

I dislike it when people add Holes Bay birds into Upton Country Park on eBird. In fact, it’s a problem everywhere when irrelevant birds are counted in a hotspot, or when irrelevant hotspots are used. Full of inaccuracies.

Really enjoyed watching the 2 Little Gull between the rain showers in Holes Bay this afternoon, at times they were very close!

The 1st Winter bird was pitter-pattering along the surface like a Storm Petrel, only another 1000 shots to review

Kilauea erupted again yesterday in a fierce display. In only the 2nd time in 40 years, park officials closed the area due to the intensity.

Fountains were officially recorded at 500 m high, grapefruit size tephra were being ejected, and tephra fall was measured up to 20 miles away.

Peregrines have been using the Poole Asda flat ledges for nearly a decade to consume prey and during that time we've been receiving info of various 'found' prey items on the pavements below. A strong south or SE breeze blows off remains and today David foster found Dunlin and Redwing remains.
