Blondie has reissued their 1999 album, No Exit, including a first-time vinyl issue. It will come as a surprise to no one who knows me that I reviewed the reissued No Exit for @popmatters.com . @blondieband.bsky.social
Fueled by the international hit "Maria", 1999’s 'No Exit' brought Blondie back to life. The album has an admirable sense of adventure.

@blondieband.bsky.social's deluxe edition of 'No Exit' is out now.

I reviewed a great reissue of Memphis Slim’s 1959 debut album for @popmatters.com . @craftrecordings.bsky.social
'Gate of Horn' highlights a set of new recordings of blues pianist Memphis Slim's best tunes, mostly credited to LC. Frazier, one of Slim's several pseudonyms.

'At the Gate of Horn (Remastered 2025)' is a #PMPick [9/10] out now via @craftrecordings.bsky.social.

Watching a series about our 20th president, in which that president is played by an actor who fronts an R.E.M. tribute band in his spare time feels very on-brand for me. youtu.be/6jopqrSojQE

New in PN: Trump couldn't (legitimately) win a third term If he tried

"What’s astonishing about the media’s 'third term' coverage is how it doesn’t clearly state the obvious: Voters are openly rejecting Trump, as seen in poll after poll."

I reviewed Circa Waves’ Death & Love Pt. 1 for @popmatters.com when it was released in January. Now the band has released the complete 18-track album and I have reviewed that as well. It’s a great pop album.

Robert Plant’s evocative new album is titled Saving Grace, which is also the name of the band Plant recorded it with. Plant has been part of Saving Grace for several years. The album is the latest highlight in Plant’s journey and I reviewed it for PopMatters. @robertplant.com @popmatters.com

Mike Johnson doesn't know sh*t

Mike Johnson seems to be well on the road to being worst Speaker of the House ever.
Q: How comfortable are you w/Trump seeking $230m from the DOJ?

MIKE JOHNSON: Uh, I don't know the details. I just read it. I know he believes he's owed that reimbursement. What I heard is that if receives it, he's gonna consider giving it to charity. They attack him for everything. *changes topic*

Apparently, the White House does not want anybody to share photos of the ongoing destruction of the East Wing. Like this one.
The White House is asking people not to share pictures of the East Wing because it’s even worse today.

I am trying hard not to lose my fucking mind over this.
Scoop: Trump has started demolishing the White House's East Wing facade to build his ballroom. The president had claimed construction of the $250 million building wouldn’t ‘interfere’ with the existing White House structure. /W @ddiamond.bsky.social wapo.st/4hqBNiU

I was in Washington D.C. and it seems worth noting that the rally did not take place on the Mall.
Mike Johnson: "The irony was that they called it the No Kings Rally, but if President Trump was a king, the government would be open. If President Trump was a king, he would've closed the nationals parks and the National Mall so they couldn't of had the rally out here."

Here’s a great essay about a No Kings rally on Long Island. Michele is right: we need to move beyond cynicism.

I was a group leader for an overnight college orientation program. During that week, I had a bunch of people at orientation sign a copy of the new debut LP by Frehley’s Comet and raffled it off to a guy living on my dorm floor. Of all the goofy things I have done, that is one of my favorites.

We are two days into a government shutdown — House Republicans are nowhere in sight.

Why are they hiding?

Mike Johnson is complicit. Seriously complicit.
Dean: The president is unhinged

Johnson: A lot of folks on your side are too. I don’t control him

Dean: Oh my god, please. That performance in front of the generals.

Johnson: I didn’t see it.

Dean: Our allies are looking elsewhere. Our enemies are laughing.

Trump hyped a huge autism announcement for months then followed through today with a press conference where his brain leaked out of his ears for an hour while he couldn't pronounce "acetaminophen" and yelled "DON'T TAKE ASPIRIN" over and over.

Congratulations, America.
