Has it always been this hard to make friends in your 40’s, or is this new? I finally made a friend who actually wants to hang out, have good conversations, and is responsive and they’re MOVING. Even my local friends are terrible at actually responding, much less actually hanging out.

The way that 7 year old me would belt this out, vowing to never surrender to the grave oppression of bedtimes and tv show restrictions.

If, for any reason, my 80-something year old mother was wandering the roof of her apartment complex and talking nonsense, I would be talking to the residence about moving her to the locked dementia wing.

I’m so excited about the election of Bishop Curry but also everything in me is warning me not to hope, because this machine just crushes so many people and is so deeply resistant to change.

@kevinmkruse.bsky.social - I used One Nation Under God to write the intro to my sermon this past week, and people loved learning about the corporately financed Christian opposition to the New Deal and wanted to learn more. It was a great way to build up to working through the Gospel.

Dem Leadership is feckless and callow. This is a time when they could grow the party by doing everything they can to stop this, looking to other countries who have stopped or slowed power grabs. Instead the continue to worry about the donor class and place far too much trust in institutions.

I am on day three of my 4,352nd attempt to quit smoking. I hate this. Starting smoking is one of the worst decisions I ever made, second only to my first marriage. Now I know why my dad was a total asshole for about a year after he quit.

One of my jobs right now uses turbify as a web builder and I'm convinced this was created in 1996 and never changed. It is SO not intuitive, keeps timing out, and is more expensive than the mid-tier of most other builders. I am going to lose my mind just trying to update the blog.

This. Non-violence is STRATEGIC. It's not about obeying the rules or being polite or not getting in trouble. It's to cause a reaction or some other end point.
One of the key points of non-violent direct action is to force the authorities to stop you -- to force their hand, to make them arrest you, and yes, perhaps even make them lash out in violence -- and to broadcast those images to an otherwise apathetic public.
Be confrontational, not compliant.

This was not the win I thought it was. Through a series of weirdness, the workspace for my other ministry got deleted. So now I am completely panicking. which is fun.
Just moved my congregation from an aol email to one at their domain. I feel like I just won something and can go take a nap. (non pastors may not get the success this is, but iykyk)
