The Indiana State Senate rejected President Donald Trump’s call for a special session to redraw the state’s congressional map ahead of the 2026 midterms. The move preserves Indiana’s current map and represents yet another rebuke of Trump’s national gerrymander push.

Redemption is there for all people. This is good to see, and I pray it is a turning point - not only for MTG, but for the country. Time will tell.
BASH: We have seen these attacks from the president at other people. It's not new. And I haven't heard you speak out about it until it was directed at you.

MARJORIE TAYLOR GREENE: I think that's fair criticism. And I would like to say, humbly, I'm sorry for taking part in the toxic politics.

Anyone wonder if the vote to release the Epstein files is next week to give the Justice Department time to get rid of a few things? In normal times I would say that is crazy talk, but given what we have seen from the DOJ, it isn't that far fetched, is it.

Every time I see any video of the Oval Office, I can't wait for the next President to have all that gaudy and cheap gold stuff ripped off everything. While it fits this occupant (it is as fake as he is), it is not befitting of the office, not to mention really tacky.

Anyone else reminded about minutes missing on tapes?
"Currie seemed particularly concerned that a portion of the grand jury proceedings that led to Comey’s indictment was “missing,” leaving certain aspects of Halligan’s interactions with the grand jury unreviewable."

A ruling against Halligan could threaten the cases she brought against James Comey and Letitia James.

Finally good to see somebody on the news (thank you
@morningjoe-msnbc.bsky.social ) telling the Democrats to stop their whining and in-fighting and take the win. There is work yet to do. Lordy, Dems love their purity tests. Stop it.

This Independent sees the recent move of the Senate a little differently than it would seem many Dems do. I think it was brilliant, except for one thing. See below (and sorry for the multi-threaded post).

With an upcoming vote in the House, an end to the shutdown is in sight
After 41 days of a government shutdown, the U.S. Senate passed a set of bills to reopen the government. The House comes back to vote as early as Wednesday afternoon.

This is the easiest case for understanding gerrymandering. Salt Lake City, in the center of the state, is the only Dem leaning area in Utah. So GOPers divided the state into 4 districts, radiating out from SLC, cutting it into four quadrants, preventing the city from electing a Rep of their choice.

Well, the Dems are doing it again - arguing among themselves to the thrill of the GOP. Pull it together people.

In learning more about which Senators voted for the deal, I am thinking this might have been a smart play. None are up for reelection in 2026, the rest can continue to fight, and there is a defined deadline for a vote on ACA subsidies, rather than just "we will talk about it." And...

I normally believe that the office, if not the man/woman, should be respected. However, as he doesn't respect it either, he got what he deserved. Perhaps he needs to be told what those words he was reading actually mean, and how often he breaks that oath.

@msnbc.com Please do not forget to focus on the release of the Epstein files. It has dropped a lot from the news cycle, but it is the reason the House is not in session. Remember the victims and do not let this out of the spotlight.
