Soooo, Mr. Deputy Atty. Gen., what you are saying is - you never did a proper investigation before allowing this sex trafficker to have a cushy Club Fed cell? Because you certainly had the same subpoena power as Congress. It isn't @gtconway.bsky.social that is incompetent, it is you.

PS: It also gets the AZ Rep. sworn in, and a chance to get that vote on the Epstein files, so a victory for his victims may be in sight too.

Now the "one thing" I mentioned: The other side would be rightly claiming victory, and rallying together to cross the finish line with the vote in December. Sadly, I don't see the Dems working together in that way. That should have been worked out prior to the agreement.

And finally, the agreement, if passed, funds the government through the end of January (and some parts like SNAP through September). If the GOP votes down the ACA subsidies, the Dems can do it all over again.

Fourth, it reduces the chance of families all across the nation from going into the holidays without the ability to food to put on the table, or presents under the tree. A victory of compassion.

And, having had the shutdown go past the election results, where the Republicans got shellacked, and where the gerrymander was countered in CA, it changes the conversation for them, especially those in swing districts.

Third, having drawn the entire nation to focus on the rising costs of healthcare, and that the premium increase is due to the GOP tax cuts and their decision to not renew the ACA tax credits, the Dems put the Reps in an electoral corner...

First, it was smart to hold out for a long time. It reminded me of the Texas Dems who walked out to bring much needed attention to the gerrymandering. Even though they eventually had to come back home, their walk-out changed everything.
