A retro gaming geek that dives into the magic of retro gaming from the 70's, 80's and 90's (and maybe some early '00's when necessary). Every game has a story. https://www.retrogaminggeek.com
I didn’t get into THPS until the third installment, but Retro Blast fires down memory lane of the franchise in this great episode.

I want to take a moment to honor the late Jerry Lawson, the Electronic Engineer who led the design of the 'Fairchild Channel F' console and also designed the FIRST interchangeable game (ROM) cartridges.

The game industry wouldn't be what it is today without Jerry's brilliance. (cont..)

When Find and Replace goes awry in your article. 😂

The Nintendo Switch became the Nintendo "Change" in this article about the Switch becoming Nintendo's best selling console. Oops! 🤪

If you’re not already, you should be listening to @retroblastpod.com Great stories of first hand experience playing retro games and their history.
Oh... y- you wanna hear MORE about how Ghosts 'N Goblins traumatized me as a child?

Well, there's a Retro Blast episode for that!

'Ghosts 'N Goblins 'N Ghouls' is on Spotify, Apple, or anywhere you listen to podcasts!

Sparkster is the name of the main character in Rocket Knight Adventures. However, that wasn't always his name. Any guesses what it was during development? My History & Development of Rocket Knight Adventures has the answer. ☺️

Rocket Knight Adventures: The History & Development of Konami’s Hit
Rocket Knight Adventures was created by Konami to compete head-to-head with Mario and Sonic. Despite not reaching it's lofty goal, Konami still created a great game.

I know the debate is usually between NHL 93 vs NHL 94, but for me, it's NHL 96 all the way (specifically because it's the game I grew up with.)

I still remember the day I got the red ring of death. It sucked. But, I contacted Microsoft and they got it fixed...in like 3 weeks...
I think every Xbox 360 owner went through this at least once

I think the 90's would have it for me. The Genesis, Saturn, SNES, N64, PS1...I mean, the GOATs of consoles came out then. Plus, I'd know to pile all my hard earned lawn mowing money into Apple stock.

I've got Konami on the brain.

What's your favorite game made by Konami?

Seeing lots of posts on the best games for retro systems, and honestly, I have to admit that Super Monkey Ball (and Super Monkey Ball 2) are my favorites for the GameCube. Such a fun party game and Monkey Target is still one of my favorite mini games of all time. 🐵

X-Men arcade's 6 player cabinet has to be one of the most amazing cabinets ever made. 2 monitors blended together to create a widescreen before widescreens were a thing. The sheer amount of chaos on the screen with 6 players is so much fun. :D

The emulator that got me back into retro gaming back in the late 1990's. Thanks to @modernvintagegamer.com for putting this together!

What handheld do you use for retro gaming on the go?

I love my R36S, but I'm considering upgrading to a Retro Pocket 6 so I can play PS2 and GameCube games.

It's still so crazy to me that Nintendo Power offered Dragon Warrior 1 for free to new subscribers. $21 got you a year of Nintendo Power and a copy of Dragon Warrior. INSANE!

Finished the first of two Daytona USA cabinets. This one had no control panel, monitor, and the boards inside were shot. So it's a complete redo with a Thrustmaster 150 steering wheel/pedals, gear shift, and a 32" LCD monitor. The next one will be more complicated w/ original parts.

Konami was ready to jump ship from Nintendo's iron grasp on games and go to the Genesis. Along the way they figured they'd try to create a mascot that could rival Mario and Sonic.

Here's the History and Development of Rocket Knight Adventures:

I don't want much. Just the simple things. Like a simple 8 cabinet networked Daytona USA racing cabinet in my basement. You know, the simple things...
