Patterns of change in floral color and odor of Lonicera calcarata are in relation to pollinator behavior
Lonicera calcarata flowers change from white through yellow to orange-red. Pollinators favor prechange flowers, guided by color cues. Floral odor mainly comprised fatty acids, monoterpenes, and peake...

80% of our food crops and wild flowering plants depend on pollination.

Yet one-third of bee, butterfly and hoverfly species is in decline.

Our new EU Pollinator Monitoring Scheme aims to help reverse this trend by 2030.

How is #climatechange reshaping plant–pollinator timing (phenological overlap) in Mediterranean ecosystems? Can #biodiversity buffer mismatches?
Find out here👇

Generalized plant–pollinator phenological climate‐driven advances still lead to a decline in phenological overlap
Climate change is altering the phenology of interacting species, potentially leading to mismatches in the timing of their interactions. This may affect the delivery of key ecosystem services such as ...

Masked bees (Hymenoptera: Colletidae: Hylaeus spp.) spend a lot of time collecting pollen for their young, like this one on a sulphur cinquefoil (Rosaceae: Potentilla recta). They lack the transport hairs most bees have and carry it in a secondary "honey stomach." Clayton Michigan, 27 Jun 2014.
