February 4, 2026 at 11:28 PM
I strongly condemn the violent actions of ICE and CBP against non-criminal immigrants and U.S. citizens! The failure of leadership at DHS under Secretary Kristi Noem is unacceptable and she must go. We need accountability, transparency, and humane enforcement: NOW.
February 4, 2026 at 11:12 PM
There is an alarming rise in deaths of individuals in ICE and CBP custody and reports of inhuman conditions within detention centers. That’s why I introduced the Humanitarian Standards for Individuals in ICE and CBP Custody Act, to prevent deaths and protect human dignity.
February 3, 2026 at 11:35 PM
The law is clear.

Members of Congress need to be able to observe, investigate, and provide oversight over ICE and CBP detention centers to prevent death and protect human dignity.

Today at Sun City Palm Desert, I stood alongside over 100 community members speaking out against ICE’s brutality in Minnesota and here at home. Their actions are meant to tear families apart and spread fear through violence. We have had enough. #melttheice

I’m working on the Humanitarian Standards for Individuals in ICE & CBP Act to prevent death and protect human dignity.

I will never stop fighting for my constitutional right as a member to provide oversight & investigate the administration & reports of abuse inside detention centers.
January 30, 2026 at 7:22 PM
2025 was the deadliest year in over 20 years with more than 56 individuals dying while in ICE & CBP custody. I met with immigration advocates, lawyers, and faith-based leaders in order to create humanitarian standards at detention centers to prevent deaths and protect human dignity.

How I’m Addressing DHS Activity
January 29, 2026 at 3:44 AM
I joined Rep. Aguilar, Rep. Takano, and immigration advocates to discuss the escalating violent actions by DHS throughout the country.

That is why I am calling for the impeachment of Secretary Noem and for an independent investigation into the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good by DHS agents.
January 29, 2026 at 12:31 AM
So very angry right now. I saw an agent walk away with a gun and afterwards, they shot and killed 37 year old VA ICU nurse Alex Jeffrey Pretti in cold blood. I have seen many videos, from many angles from many observers and not once did I see Alex behave violently or have a gun in his hands.

Healthcare insurance CEOs agree: cuts to Medicaid will raise costs for everyone.

Because of the Republican health care crisis, millions will go uninsured, emergency hospital visits will increase, and healthcare premiums will skyrocket to cover the costs.
January 24, 2026 at 2:43 AM
Healthcare insurance companies will raise their premiums to cover the costs of uncompensated care as a result of millions going uninsured. This means costs will skyrocket for everyone.

That is why I am fighting to protect Medicaid and ensure that Americans have access to affordable health care.

Read my statement on current ICE behavior my recent vote on the DHS funding bill
January 23, 2026 at 3:08 AM
We do not have to sacrifice the public’s health and safety for economic growth under the guise of national security. We can grow our economy and protect people’s health.

That’s why I oppose legislation that would increase pollution, harm Americans’ health, and raise health care costs.
January 22, 2026 at 3:21 AM
Safeguarding our local communities’ health is essential. That’s why I’m fighting to keep polluting power plants at least five miles away from schools, hospitals, and long term care facilities to protect high risk children, the chronically ill, and elderly. Your health is my priority.
January 22, 2026 at 1:44 AM
Proud to announce $6 million in funding for the Coachella Valley!

This investment will help prevent flooding, reduce pollution along the receding shoreline of the Salton Sea, and create new walkable pathways that protect our environment while making our community healthier and more connected.
January 21, 2026 at 12:23 AM
I sent a letter inviting Administrator Zeldin to visit the district to see firsthand the environmental and public health challenges our communities face due to the New River, and the urgent need to protect families and restore this vital waterway.

Major congratulations to Chairwoman Peggy Price and Vice Chair Martha Cardenas-Singh! For the first time, two women are serving in these leadership roles at the same time — a historic moment for Imperial County.

I’m excited to work with them as we continue serving the Imperial County.

I introduced the National Desert Day resolution to recognize the importance of our deserts on the second Saturday of January.

Join me in conserving and appreciating the beauty of our deserts that we call home.

The Trump Administration politicizing federal assistance will raise costs even more for families and working people that are already struggling.

Withholding child care and family support from states for partisan political reasons is unlawful and fundamentally wrong.

Glad to see CA fight back!
The Trump Admin is unlawfully freezing $10 billion in funding for California and four other Democratic-led states to support child care and family assistance programs, all under the guise of made-up “fraud” allegations.

We’re suing.

I’m fighting for your access to affordable health care. We must extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits and avoid premium hikes. Access to quality health care shouldn’t have to be a privilege.

My mission is simple: make sure lifesaving care is there for the Americans who need it most.
January 9, 2026 at 4:53 PM
We forced a vote to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits. Senate Republicans should do the right thing and vote to protect accessible health care.

Secretary Kennedy and the CDC’s decision to roll back recommended vaccines - without regard to the science - is irresponsible and dangerous.

The Trump administration has already weakened access to lifesaving care, and policies like this will make America sicker.
