Rep. Gabe Vasquez
@repgabevasquez.bsky.social
US Representative for NM’s 2nd District. 1st-gen Mexican American. Conservationist. Member of House Armed Services Committee & Agriculture Committee.
This is one of the most turbulent times in our nation's history, and our character is being tested. We must not fail this test. We must show the world America stands for freedom, not hostility, and reject any future proposals from the President to take over Greenland.

I didn't come to Congress to get rich, I don't own stocks, and I don't think any member of Congress should trade stocks while they're here.

The Boundary Waters are an irreplaceable Wilderness Area that represent the best of America’s public lands. Opening them to foreign-owned open-pit copper-sulfide mines is wrong. I urge my colleagues to vote NO. www.fieldandstream.com/stories/cons...
Congress Moves to Allow Mining Upstream of Boundary Waters
Hunting and angling groups are up in arms over a House bill that would pave the way for open-pit mining in the headwaters of the nation's most-visited Wilderness Area.

New Mexico farmers are tough, but the President's tariffs and cuts to food assistance have hit them hard. The Farm & Family Relief Act will deliver real support, helping our chile, onion, and other specialty crop growers get up to $900K to stay on the land they love for generations to come.

Sec. Hegseth and Sec. Noem have no idea when it comes to the realities of the U.S.-Mexico border in New Mexico. This $1.6B waste of your taxpayer money is the latest evidence: www.borderreport.com/border-repor...

I just signed onto articles of impeachment against Secretary Noem. She's got to go.

We need counter-drone capabilities that enable us to stop drug and human traffickers from getting ahead of law enforcement at the border. Here's how: thehill.com/opinion/cong...

More clean energy manufacturing is coming to southern New Mexico, bringing 340 jobs to Santa Teresa and helping our state hit its clean energy goals. Another big win for the BorderPlex.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the Roadless Rule. For a quarter century, it’s helped protect places like the Gila, keeping our national forests intact for hunters, anglers, families, and local communities. Public lands belong to all of us, and this rule helps keep them that way.

In a glaring abuse of power that has sparked concern from both sides of the aisle, the Administration served the independent Federal Reserve a bogus subpoena, further weaponizing the DOJ to execute personal vendettas. This will hurt our economy, not to mention our nation’s separation of powers.

Five years ago today, law enforcement officers bravely defended our democracy during the January 6 attack on our Capitol. 140 officers were seriously injured and several lost their lives. We honor their service and the sacrifice made in defense of our democracy.

I had the opportunity to work with Rep. LaMalfa on the Agriculture Committee, and we always found common ways to work together and better the lives of our constituents. I offer my condolences to his family for this terrible loss during this difficult time.

New Mexicans don’t want America to get involved in another drawn-out, expensive conflict overseas. The President must comply with the Constitution, end this act of war, and communicate with the public immediately. Full statement below.

No better way to ring in the new year than at the Las Cruces Chile Drop! 🌶️

Getting things done for New Mexicans requires reaching out across the aisle, especially when Republicans control all branches of government. You’ve trusted me to be effective, and that’s what I’ll continue to do. Proud to have earned this score. More to come for the benefit of New Mexicans!

This year, seven of my bipartisan bills were signed into law. I also cosponsored more than 160 others and cast over 300 votes on the House floor. I don’t take any of that lightly. Every decision I make is guided by the people I represent.

This year, my team and I returned over $4 million to NM families and cut through red tape with Social Security, Medicare, the VA, and other federal agencies. We responded to more than 34,000 letters, held over 100 tours, and met with many constituents.

Yesterday, I was proud to host a celebration marking the 25th anniversary of BLM’s National Conservation Lands with the Conservation Lands Foundation.

I want to be clear about something: I don’t work for a party. I work for the people of New Mexico — every single one of them, whether they voted for me or not.

I’m proud to deliver real results for New Mexico in this year’s National Defense Authorization Act.

Today, we celebrate a great win for New Mexico. I’ve been fighting for reauthorization for Secure Rural Schools, which has an impact of more than $9 million for communities like Quemado, Reserve, and Silver City. This funding supports our teachers, counties, and maintains our roads.

When it comes to immigration, Americans want an alternative to the cruelty unfolding on our streets and the policies of the past. My New American Immigration Plan does just that. Let's secure our borders, grow our economy, live up to our American values and create strategic pathways to legal status.

Thank you to everyone who joined me for coffee today to talk about public safety in Albuquerque. These conversations matter. I’ll keep bringing your concerns back to Washington and work with local partners to tackle crime, drug issues, and homelessness to build safer neighborhoods for everyone.

We're in a housing affordability crisis, and I met with mobile home residents and advocates today in Albuquerque to talk about a path out of it. I introduced my Keep Mobile Homes Affordable Act to stand up against the predatory private equity firms targeting New Mexicans who live in mobile homes.

I just visited the South Valley Care Center to speak with residents, families and staff about what they’re facing as Republican cuts to Medicaid have started making their lives harder. All our seniors deserve to age with dignity and I am working so the policies coming out of Washington reflect that.
