4. Munto 2: Beyond the Walls of Time
An improvement over the original OVA, the story is more focused it feels and I felt like the drama of Yumemi life of isolation was better explored. I still don't think this is any to write home about but I did like the Ultraman Taro reference throughout 1 & 2.

5. Munto TV (2009)
Mostly a retelling of the original 2 OVA's with added flair and unsurprising KyoAni is able to make it look really good. If Munto interests you at all then I would recommend this adaptation over the OVA's personally. Overall more entertaining and better paced, but still weird.

I feel like Kyoto Animation is one of those anime studios that has strong brand loyalty and synergy with all of its productions. People don't just love the shows, they love the studio too. No other TV anime studio has its own concerts

There is a 3rd ova/movie of Munto that was never dubbed. It's the one version part of Munto I've never seen.
I first saw this story in fansubs as the tv show when I was in college.
Fast forward a few years and Munto dvd 2 was a dime a dozen, Crunchyroll sent me one in a 30 pack of dollar dvds.

Munto was released by Central Park Media in the US and it always seems a bit odd that it's a Kyoani show (those are popular) and no one's successfully relicensed the ova's or the tv show. It's heavily animated by Kyoani 2000's standards and gorgeous by fantasy anime standards. I watched the 2 OVA's.
