However right now I've been sticking with the classic 1954. performance conducted by Sir Adrian Boult, it's a noticeably slower interpretation of the piece compared to today's performances but I like a lot of things about it - the soprano is really powerful at times

a few days ago I found a massive torrent that contains
all major recordings of Handel's Messiah since 1928. and I absolutely intend to nerd out over it

it's fascinating to see the changes in orchestral interpretation

Turns out it's also the oldest continuously performed piece of classical music

in a lot of ways, the late TNG interior design still looks like the ideal futuristic place to live
they really nailed it for that show

like yeah it's a technologically advanced future, but that doesn't mean you need to shove techy stuff absolutely everywhere, there's a bunch of comfy furniture

I'm voicing a protest against sci-fi movies where everyone lives in terribly designed houses with transparent glassy surfaces and glossy screens everywhere. I wouldn't want to live in those apartments!

Meh. Action scenes range from laughable to merely boring, and the plot is all kinds of messed up.

The ending tries to send a bright message: "Determinism is false! You can change your future!", but I didn't need that reasoning to notice the entire setting is deeply dystopian and nobody has privacy.

Will the EU break with the US over Venezuela? Fuck no.
Will it condemn invasion and regime change here? Fuck no.
Will it condemn invasions elsewhere? Depends if it’s Israel.
Will it keep preaching human rights, democracy, sovereignty, rule of law? Of course.
Will anyone believe them? Fuck no.

People doling our nonsense about the "legitimacy" of the victim countries government is sickening. Whether we think their gov is legit or not makes little difference for the lives upended and destroyed by the chaos of war.
Even if you were to be as generous as you could to the US, the only thing separating it from Russia's crimes is that: America's better at destroying other nations, with even less pretext.

I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.

The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. (1/2)

only recently have I been realizing how efficient the .ogg format is compared to mp3, and it should become a new standard

When clocks strike midnight on the first day each year, a quiet creative revolution starts as hundreds of works move from private control into the public domain, unlocking stories, songs, and images for anyone to reuse.

The world celebrates this big moment with an official Public Domain Day. (1/2)
