I'm excited to share my latest article, where I outline the work that the UN Human Rights Office is doing on the legacy of #nuclear testing in the Marshall Islands.
This initiative inspired me to look at nuclear treaties & related measures through a transitional justice framework 👇
Traditionally, nuclear weapons issues are focused on State security, not human rights. But, Renata Dalaqua writes, a new initiative by the UNOHCR is changing this by utilizing a transitional justice framework to address nuclear legacy in the Marshall Islands:

Human rights & nuclear regimes: lessons from the Marshall Islands
Acknowledgement and respect for human rights can encourage States, like the Marshall Islands, to join and participate in nuclear regimes.

If you don't want to watch the full video, I suggest the bit on “Misogyny & instability" (08:25). Plotting data on fragile States vs gender inequality, it’s evident that, generally, the more sexist a country is, the more unstable it is.
