Too icy to take the usual barrage of stream samples yesterday in the study catchment, so instead we searched for hillslope springs and rode waterfalls like slides 🛝😆

Large rock avalanche with high elevation release area (3450 to 3500 m) recently occurred (before 8th Nov.) on Les Agneaux (3664 m) south face in Ecrins massif.
Debris travelled 800 m on former Tuckett glacier.
Permafrost degradation likely involved 🌡️📈

This is pretty amazing: a live waterfall plot showing data from a DAS dark fibre cable from the Svartsengi Geothermal Power Plant all the way down to the sea west of Grindavik. This should show small strains due to the current volcanic unrest in Iceland. 🧪⚒️
