Sitting U.S. senators don't make letters such as this one public unless they feel a paper trail is needed to inform the public.

Not great. Really not great.

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

I will simply never recover from reading this sentence:

"Since Georgia implemented work requirements in 2020, they have spent twice as much on Deloitte consultants and administrative costs as on healthcare for people."

This 🧵 👇YES! Keep pushing.
The biggest risk in this moment is something sociologists call “symbolic compliance.”

That’s when an institution that is violating civil rights gives the public just enough symbolic victories that accountability efforts lose steam before there has been any meaningful change.

Just remember: Trump CUT $1 trillion from Americans' health care…

...and ADDED $75 billion to his authoritarian, masked ICE agent fund in his Big, Ugly Law.

We are demanding accountability. No more taxpayer funds for ICE to terrorize our communities.

I care about healthcare and RIPTA and child care and that's why I care about the #FairShareAgenda. Rhode Island needs to be ready to step in where the federal government is stepping back. Those who can pay a little more, on income over $640,000/year, can help us invest in our amazing state.

I introduced legislation for Providence to create the Crook Street Bridge Authority. Channel 10 has the story:

Ugh my excitement is over. I may never see the inside of this building, and will continue to wait for the train outside in the super cold icyness of winter mornings on the platform.
Really very excited that this building is open, but the operating hours are bad. 8am-4:30pm for a facility that has buses and trains running from 5am past midnight. Among all the other things we need to fund, station hours that match service hours needs to be on the list.
RIPTA said the facility provides “over 500 trips” per day, and there were 241,000 total boardings last year.

The House Finance Committee dedicated a 2¢ per gallon increase in the gas tax to RIPTA last year. Gov. McKee plans to fill RIPTA’s $14M budget gap for FY27, but that amount assumed the extra gas tax revenue.

Tagging my state legislators: @rebeccakislak.bsky.social @meghankallman.bsky.social
@govdanmckee.bsky.social: "My budget will fully close RIPTA’s remaining $14M deficit..."

Also McKee: "My budget will roll back last year's gas tax increase..."

The gas tax increase is helping to fund RIPTA though! RIPTA receives 11.75 cents in tax revenue on every gallon of gas! 🚌

The #RIHouse is getting ready to welcome the Gov for his State of the State address. I will be listening for his plan to make sure we take care of RIers, even with cuts from the fed govt. If we all pay our #FairShare we can fill some gaps in healthcare, food, and child care that RIers depend on.
