On the other hand...what

By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homan’s strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. They’re being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet

Yup. Partisan gerrymandering is bad and should be eliminated.

And until the nanosecond it is, Democrats should be the gerrymandering champions of the universe.
on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.

"People don't like us and following the law is super hard so we shouldn't have to do it"
The feds respond. They say they're concerned about the release of evidence in the Broadview conspiracy case because "given the current climate, it will be very difficult to pick an unbiased jury."

(Defendants say they've already agreed not to release info that would identify agents.)

I think this is the right take. We should take the threat seriously because Trump is never kidding. But we shouldn't treat it like it's fated to work because there's a lot of reasons why it is just super hard to do what Trump wants to do, and his admin hasn't proven super competent.
This is where I come down as well.

I take his intent seriously, but there's a huge gap between what he wants to do and what he can actually do given the way our elections are run.

We need an all-out effort to make sure he "wins" as little as he can, but the doomerism is largely misplaced.
1. Trump certainly wants to fully rig elections.
2. He has no actual plausible plan to do so.
3. We should absolutely take the threat very seriously and actively do what's possible to protect elections and democracy.
4. What's actually likely is success or failure at the margins; every bit counts.

Whenever there's a ruling like this it's important to remember that the judge knows what they're doing. It's not that they're stupid; it's that they're complicit.
JUST IN: Judge Tostrud lifts restraining order against Trump administraiton, concluding they're unlikely to destroy or alter evidence related to the Pretti shooting -- though he says the record is "not one-sided." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I appreciate the sentiment, and even agree with it (for the primary).

When it comes time for the general, I hope everyone has learned their lesson about "punishing" the Dems and we can all come together to do the bare minimum and vote against the fascists.
The election is years away and you’re all already like “yeah i’d vote for anyone”. Let me explain something: i get that mentality a month before the election. But it’s years away. SET SOME FUCKIN STANDARDS NOW. Because if you don’t we will end up with a losing candidate. AGAIN. Make demands!!

They should never feel safe or welcome in society again. They should be pariahs, hated and reviled everywhere they go.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down

This is 100% going to happen. It will be up to people who look like me to make sure they these goons don't get to those who are more vulnerable to being attacked.
This giant ICE Army they are building this year is also likely to be at polling places during the midterms in heavily Democratic precincts with the excuse being that they are looking for “illegals trying to vote.”

No lies detected.
Everybody who chose to vote third party or not at chose to help Trump win. They did this.

They all helped Trump for different reasons

Some thought Democrats were evil so they helped Trump

Some didn't like the message "help us stop Hitler" So they chose to help Hitler

They all betrayed America

A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

ICE should be abolished. And also there's no universe where Trump signs an "Abolish ICE act".

Democrats should make abolition their goal, and people should not lose their minds when that goal takes longer than three weeks to accomplish.

Prediction: People will lose their minds anyways

VA Dems are trying to criminalize owning most firearms with SB749, which in another time is something I'd agree with.

However, we're currently in the middle of a fascist takeover.

Abolish ICE is not enough.

Stern words for Greg Bovino or Kristi Noem is not enough.

We need prosecutions and trials.

Anything short of this position fails to address the gravity of this moment.
