Former Trump supporter

I’m a Truman Liberal.
I believe in strong leadership, tough decisions, and doing what's right — not what's easy. Like Harry Truman, I support a government that works for everyday Americans: the workers, the veterans, the underdogs.
I've been all over the place on Bluesky. Not a single person here mentions the name "Sydney Sweeney." The only topics that came up were the Tuesday election win and the Government shutdown.
What's crazy about this take is how the Sydney Sweeney discourse flared up again on X last week but was completely ignored on here. His brain is cooked on reactionary discourse and thinks everyone has his warped conception of a view on it.

Out of the 8 senators who capitulate, only one is up for re-election in 2026, Senator Jeanne Shaheen (NH). Looks like she'll be the first to be replaced. Hopefully the good people of NH will find a worthy candidate who isn't a coward to easily take her Senate seat.

Now that the shutdown is ending, Hakeem Jeffries absolutely has the leverage to press Speaker Mike Johnson to move on procedural matters that the GOP delayed — starting with Adelita Grijalva’s swearing-in.

Say what you want about Hakeem Jeffries, but he held the line. While Schumer caved on the omnibus bill and the government shutdown, Jeffries kept House Democrats united.

Mayor-elect Mandani must stay vigilant. His foes inside and outside City Hall will try to undermine him and tarnish his name. If I were him, I’d focus on building a strong relationship with Gov. Hochul—together, they could counter any political attacks.

FDR wasn’t a Democratic Socialist — he was a reformist liberal who saved capitalism from collapse. The New Deal built safety nets and reined in corporate excess, but private enterprise stayed intact. He didn’t want to overthrow capitalism — he wanted to make it work for everyone.

I recreated my X account so I can check what's going on over there. It is worse now than when I first left the platform. All I see is nonstop Nazi crap, racist whites complaining about nonsense & antisemitism on steroids.

Tuesday’s election proved something big: when Liberal Centrists & Populist Left work together, Democrats win.
Centrists delivered VA & NJ.
The Populist Left took NYC.
Competence + Energy = Victory.
Unity is the new blueprint 💙💪

Despite putting up with a lot of crap and being treated like peons in America. Yet in the end Black Americans still come in and save our democracy, save the Dem party & never ask for anything in return. Blacks have always been the silent majority & our silent guardian.

While Republicans are screaming "Communist!" And Manhattan will be turned into Soviet gulags. I wanted to remind people not long ago we had a billionaire who literally did the Nazi salute on live TV. So miss me with the red scare tactics.

You sure you want that Mr Trumpy?
Because when the Democrats retake power, there are a lot of goodies they like to pass also like making DC a state which will add two new Senate seats and reforming the electoral college. You might wanna rethink hard buddy boy.
Trump to Senate Republicans: "It's time for Republicans to do what they have to do and terminate the filibuster. If you don't terminate the filibuster you'll be in bad shape."

Sun Tzu said “When your opponents are united, divide them. When they are divided, do not drive them to desperation.”
Right now MAGA is having an internal Civil War. Let them fight each other. Do not allow them to unite when the Midterm is closed. Keep them divided so their vote number is weak.
Ben Shapiro recently attacked Tucker Carlson and Nick Fuentes. Not surprising. But he had another target that would have seemed baffling just a week ago: the Heritage Foundation.

I know some folks on the Liberal Prog side who are adamant about A.I. But one thing we can appreciate from A.I is it's been a useful tool to fact check right wing disinformation. As a Liberal, we need to encourage more implementation of these systems on social media to counter junk info spreading.

Sorry Arnie

I like you, I love all your films & I like that you are standing against racism & the Trump regime. But in the fight for Prop 50, you are on the wrong side. If you have a problem, take it up to your Republican friends in Texas. They started this fight.

People with morals & integrity would rather work as a mall security then give their service to a tyrant as ICE agents.
ICE is struggling to hire officers — even after lowering its standards. DHS is spending millions of dollars on an aggressive television ad campaign targeting local police officers — but it's not getting nearly enough applicants.

It looks like most Americans simply don’t want to be ICE thugs.

I find it funny how Trump has the DOJ at the palm of his hands & has access to confidential information & yet hasn't shown the country one iota of evidence to the public that the 2020 election was "rigged". I would think if the Democrats rigged the 2020 election, there would be left over info behind
Trump is 100% going to try to rig 2026 and 2028 and democrats need to get their heads out of their asses and act accordingly.

The far left calls Kamala’s loss proof liberalism is obsolete. They’re wrong. Inflation was the real issue in 2024 — voters always punish whoever’s in charge when prices rise. That’s not ideology, that’s political gravity.

Protests in authoritarian states fail because there’s no democracy left to protect them. The No Kings protests happened in open societies — that’s not a warning sign, that’s civic engagement. Authoritarianism grows from silence, not participation.
Writing up my thoughts on this into a long piece. The one thing that worries me is that large scale protests in competitive authoritarian regimes often precede authoritarian consolidation rather than a reversal of autocracy. Russia, Hungary, Turkey also saw large protests before backsliding further.
Can I ask, what did the No Kings protest actually accomplish? I mean, in real terms, what have these protests materially changed? I can't help but feel these one off protests are merely a heatsink for energy and anger rather than a path for meaningful change and disruption of the system.
