The 'Call a General Election' petition is reason number #683 why the UK urgently needs high-quality citizenship education and media literacy in our schools.

We not only face the outside threat of foreign influence, but also the internal threat from a susceptible public that's easy to manipulate.

Merseyrail's ticketing system is like an episode of Tomorrow's World. It's retro futurism. It's an anchronistic mix of old ideas and new technology. It's like what somebody in the 80s thought the 90s would look like.

Its shit.

We have a Right to Roam on just 8% of England's land. The other 92% remains off limits.

The richest landowners can sing 'Jerusalem' all they like, it doesn't convince me that they shouldn't be subject to the same laws and taxes as the rest of us.

Shadow Culture Secretary Stuart Andrew has fumed in the Telegraph that the BBC shouldn’t “regurgitate Labour lines” after Starmer said the BBC backed his position.

The piece in question was a BBC Verify video, part of their fact checking initiative.

And that's a fact.

I’d forgotten about follow farming for the past 18 mos. Please try to be normal, build relationships, tell funny jokes, talk to people like they live next door, say smart things, post pets, block pests/trolls/harassers, but don’t bring the weirdo stuff, we’ve had a mostly nice-ish thing for a while

Bad faith arguments are an immediate block for me. Let's disagree by all means, but once you see someone pivoting all over the place to avoid having their dogma held up to the mirror, it's game over for me. No one comes on social media to watch live action mental gymnastics.
Why many free speech absolutism is nearly always intellectually dishonest and one-sided, in one minute.

I note, for example, that many of those most angry about Alison Pearson’s experience were exactly those calling for police action against things they didn’t like being said on the Gaza protests.
"It's 'free speech' when they 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 what's being said."

After backlash over a police investigation into a journalist's tweet, The News Agents discuss the right’s so-called "free speech absolutism" which, as it turns out, comes with conditions.

Can't wait to get my little one on her first Mersey Ferry. Hope we start to see more permanent moorings like this in the Albert Dock. For a city with a maritime heritage like ours we don't do enough to show it off. #Liverpool

It's crazy to think Will Osprey has been with #AEW a year now. Tony Khan has definetely gotten his money's worth out of the guy so far. He's legitimately one of the best wrestlers in the world and proves it every week. Can't wait to see him at #fullgear.

The next 4 years have all of the ingredients for a mediocre Tom Clancy techno-thriller.

If we must live in a corporate dystopia run by billionnaires and oligarchs can we at least have some more neon lights, maybe a bit of synthwave? Give us a good aesthetic at least.

The challenge facing Badenoch and the #Tory party is that she lacks the political skill to turn this perception around, the power to 'convince' - a trait expected from any politician seeking high office.

She's an operator and grafter behind the scenes, but no skill with the voters.

The problem with being an ingredients household and having children is that invariably you'll drop the ball and realise that one of you now has 1.5hr worth of cooking to do.

Or, do what I do. Offer to cook, close the kitchen door and pour yourself a drink!
problem with being an ingredients household is that circa five times a year I actually really don't want to cook and end up having a truly unhinged lunch of, to take today as an example, "muesli, kimchi, a tin of tuna and some raspberries"

Journalists need to stop vox-popping these people expecting a gotcha answer. We're all expecting them to not say the quiet part out loud. Authoritarianism is no longer a taboo subject with the right. The paradigm shift has been monumental. It's not 2004. We truly are in dangerous times.

Anyone have any ideas?
