Wow the right-wing papers are really on a three line whip today
The predictable crushing uniformity of the coverage of this Budget tells you an awful lot about the priorities of those papers, and also why there's actually quite a lot to praise in it bylinetimes.com/2025/11/26/t...

Budget 2025.

Household energy bills could be cut by £154, green levies shifted to general taxation.

No abolition of VAT on domestic fuel.

No curbs on energy company profiteering/dividends.

No change in the Ofgem pricing formula, which gives us one of the most expensive electricity in the world.

Britain is one of the world’s richest countries. Why do a third of children live in poverty?

It is a political choice - years of austerity, real wage cuts, regressive taxation, unchecked profiteering, disappearance of social housing, hijacking of govts by corporations/rich.

Child poverty has reached a record high in the United Kingdom as the country’s cost of living soars and its social security safety net falters following years of government austerity.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves hints at welfare cuts.

Why do govts not cut corporate welfare?

Subsidies for auto, steel, oil, gas, biomass, internet, shipbuilding and others, without any equity stake.

Profiteering by energy, water, phone, house builders, care home, dental care companies.
