Jodi Picoult saying "okay florida i see you" but not talking about the fact that the FL BOE can just tweet at superintendents to tell them to ban her books now, the way they just did to my superintendent about Trans Mission by Alex Bertie is telling me that no one is actually seeing Florida at all.

How about all of you actually listen to the vast majority of HCPS parents like myself who have reiterated time and time and time again WE DONT WANT YOU PULLING BOOKS OFF THE SHELVES AND VIOLATING HCPS PROCESS. Fuck you.

Pasco county library system voted unanimously to keep Jacob's Missing Book by Ian Hoffman and Sarah Hoffman in the ADULT NON FICTION section today rather than move it to the children's section where it belongs. The meeting was ridiculous and disgusting.

The Commissioner posted this “proof” without evidence that it was from a student profile within a FL school district’s account.

These are reading lists from a public library’s account without access to read the books in app.

Each account can develop unique reading challenges for their users.

"They're not banning books they're removing explicit books from public schools" then whats this? Bc the public libraries in Hernando county are being changed by a small group who want to remove what they don't like, calling it "woke". That's not about public schools OR explicit content. #bookbans

Moms for liberty keeps telling me this book isn't appropriate for public schools so I read it myself to be an informed parent. Now I have things to say about it. Wanna see my thoughts on Felix Ever After early? Join the free tier of my Bindery readswithrachel.binderybooks.com

RYAN OH MY GOD YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO MURDER THEM LIKE THIS HAHAHAHA
Book banners always seem confused about how we can call something a ban if the books are still available elsewhere.

I'll put this in a way they'll understand.

When your outreach leader was barred from going within 2500 feet of a playground?

Still a ban even though they sell slides on Amazon.

This year Im reading with purpose thanks to @readswithrachel.bsky.social bookclub…

Banned books are often amplify marginalized voices & question harmful systems.

In a time when books—especially those by marginalized authors—are being banned more than ever, reading them is an act of resistance.

Book banners: i only challenge books because all the books are porn!
Also book banners: this middle grade book is inappropriate for kids in part because it mentions menstrual cramps

Books with Black/brown characters and LGBTQ+ characters are getting banned because banning books is the first step towards banning people. Contact your local library and school board and tell them you support the freedom to read, for everyone.

Did you know Florida leads the nation in book bans (by a lot)? And that most of the bans come from just a handful of people? And that the books aren't "porn" as claimed, but just... books? Help Authors Against Book Bans (@aabbri.bsky.social) &
@flfreedomread.bsky.social defend the freedom to read.
🧵 The dog days of summer may be unavoidable. Dog books?

For some readers, they're getting harder to find.

Turns out the book banners who told you their only concern was "pornography" are also trying to restrict many students' right to read about... dogs.
