I am so excited to share this poem and join the many many other Icarus poets. Here is my speculative ekphrastic "Flooded Landscape with the Fall of Icarus" which imagines Breughel's landscape altered by climate change.

Thank you @terrainorg.bsky.social!

This is like an AI slop version of threats based on Canadian stereotypes...
Trump, in the middle of his latest unhinged Truth Social screed, claims that if Canada makes a trade deal with China, "the first thing China will do is terminate ALL Ice Hockey being played in Canada, and permanently eliminate The Stanley Cup."

A Poetic Proof

Poetry comes from the word poiesis, Greek for "a making"

When my Zayda needed to shit he said, I've gotta make.

Therefore, when what we write is shit, it is still poetry.

Not only were the ads about AI but many used AI and it showed. Why are were persisting with mediocrity and ugliness and calling it progress?

Guess I have the title and subject of my next poem...

At press time, it remained unclear whether adults should be held responsible for their actions.
Have no fear, New York Times is ON IT.

Just like last year, I'm not only Not at AWP, I might have so many kids' events that I'm Not Even Not at AWP.
Just a head's up: I won't be at AWP next month even though I love Baltimore and poetry and readings.

So, as per usual, I'm NOT at AWP, which is to say @notatawp.bsky.social. @mitchnobis.bsky.social and I will be holding our annual pity party poetry and prose reading virtually. Stay tuned for dates

Agreed, I was on a zoom and the woman is like I'm using AI to transcribe this and I thought that isnt AI, that is a voice to text transcription software...
I know it’s intentional but we should stop calling everything AI, lumping useful machine learning techniques for science with large language models that tech companies are trying to cram into everything.
AI to track icebergs adrift at sea.

British scientists say a world-first AI tool to catalogue and track icebergs as they break apart into smaller chunks could fill a "major blind spot" in predicting climate change

History repeats, but my hope lies in the repetition with difference here. People were too enthralled by or terrified of the Nazis to speak up or act. That is not even close to the case now. The regime is incredibly unpopular.

We can and must do more. The concentration camps must be eradicated.
Comparing refugees and immigrants to the holocaust does not diminish the victims of the holocaust, nor is it necessary for the humanization of refugees and immigrants.
