In the 70s I sold mainframes door-to-door. My first 4 domains were free. There were no registrars, or ICAAN, or hosting vendors. My nick was pre-banned from SEO forums. Claude AI just rejected me. All my program languages are dead.

The lost building style I find most nostalgic is the rope-walk. In maritime cities like colonial Boston, huge sailing ships needed literal tons of very long rope. Rope had to be made all at once, in a straight line. So covered, protected rope-walks multiple city-blocks long were built to make them.

The next step: Fridges that lock themselves and won't open until you've watched a commercial.
Samsung has rolled out a software update to its smart fridges that will display ads, despite saying they had "no plans" to do so. We're headed for a future where you will have to pay extra for appliances without ads.
