She'd said yes, of course. How could she not? He was adorkable, obviously crushing so hard on her and yet oblivious to her own little hints of reciprocated interest. She did not need to know what the flowers meant; that he'd made the effort not merely to impress her, but to actually, properly court her, spoke volumes in itself. It had been the start of something beautiful. A little more than two decades later, Millie sits in her favourite spot on their sofa, polishing her trusty axe. In the reflection of its blade, she can see her hair is just starting to grey, and her body has filled out a bit too, thanks to years of motherhood and of living the good life - but by Lucifer she knows she can still kick some ass. Chapter 2: now may be the only time (Day 2: Engagement) Summary: Mid-job, mid-battle, mid-bloodbath, Moxxie finds the courage to get down on one knee. He hasn't been able to afford an engagement ring, no matter how much he's scrimped and saved... but that doesn't matter. Millie's a practical gal, and he's got an alternative that he hopes will suffice. Notes: (See the end of the chapter for notes.) Somehow, he'd never found the time to do all the things he needed to do. There'd never been time to save up for a ring. Rent was unforgiving, as usual, and their boss Blitzø was unfortunately more inclined to waste his enterprise's meagre profits on horse toys and his wardrobe than raising his employee's salaries. And even the engagement rings that had been within his limited budget all seemed to have been snapped up the second he resolved to buy one of them. There'd never been time to talk to Millie either, whether it was an inconspicuous probing on her thoughts of marriage or trying to ask her out on a date that would end with him getting down on one knee. Never enough time in between the work they had to do, dealing with Blitzø's many peculiarities (and that was putting it mildly), and his hellhound secretary's (daughter's?) acidic snark. There'd never been a perfect time to gather all of his courage and commit to even a half-arsed proposal, because every time he tried, he chickened out or found an excuse to defer it to that nebulous 'perfect time' that never came. Chapter 3: 'cause he mixes it with love (and makes the world taste good) Summary: Millie & Moxxie happen upon a box of chocolates on a mission, and discover why humans are so obsessed with this candy. It was inevitable that human traditions would follow the constant flood of sinners pouring into Hell. It was also inevitable that these customs would filter into Hellborn culture too, trickling down through each ring and circle right to the frigid wastelands of Sloth. Some, namely Christmas or Easter, were nipped in the bud quite quickly for obvious reasons - though Mammon insisted on instating a distorted consumeristic husk-of-a-holiday (nothing more than a glorified day of 'sales') around the winter solstice, superficially dedicated to Krampus, to bank on the collective nostalgia of Sinners and the rabid greed of Hell in general. Moxxie tried to stay away from the shops and malls around that time, if he could. He wasn't fond of crowds even when they weren't stampeding single-minded hordes. Millie, well, she fared better - she took her axe with her when she went shopping, and sometimes it came back dripping with blood. Valentine's Day had seemed like much the same as any of the other holidays that benefitted the other side. It was named for a canonized saint, even; (and a saint with a name suspiciously similar to that very distasteful overlord of the Pentagram's porn district.) ... the patron saint of love and honey, though. That didn't sound so bad. Love and honey were definitely things Moxxie could get behind.

Hence what I mean when I say a number of viewers want the characters to aura farm instead of act in ways that are appropriate to their characterization and development, and that this particular "criticism" has ignorant undertones. At best it's just another way of purposefully dumbing down the show.

There's a serious... emotional detachment to what Vaggi's name change represents FOR her. They treat it like literally naming a fictional character, if a name just sounds bad then the author can just change it to something more interesting.

But it was difficult for her to change it in-universe.
