The new Google doodle doesn't click through to the search term "figure skating 2026". It forces you to "ask" its AI "How do figure skaters plan to where to put their jumps in their routine"
I was SO mad. I have worked hard to avoid using their "AI mode" and they forced me! 🤬

For those who don't know, Cajuns as an ethnicity, only exist because in 1755 the English entered Acadia in Nova Scotia and burned villages, destroyed property, and round up more than 80% of the local Acadians, forced them on boats, broke up families, and sent them out to sea.

Thousands died.

How someone could look at Lupita Nyong'o and NOT see Helen of Troy is beyond me.

Also, I am convinced that a lot of these Millennial parents are just fucking with their kids about not knowing stuff because they think it's funny. I hear adults talking about fucking up 6 7 to annoy the kids in their life all the time. Like, your mom probably knows, bro, she's 35.
February 3, 2026 at 4:02 PM
Different childhoods, different teenhoods, different adulthoods. So, yeah, your 43yo mom might not have been on Vine or early TikTok, but a 33yo who was 26 in 2019?? Was probably very much on TikTok and is still chronically online and knows all the same shit as you.
February 3, 2026 at 3:59 PM
I'm also confused as to why they think 30yo people are the same as their 50yo parents. They'll be like "well, my mom doesn't know about this, so Millennials don't" and you may their mom and she's definitely Gen-X.
And even if she wasn't, a 43yo Millennial isn't the same as a 33yo Millennial.
February 3, 2026 at 3:59 PM
Also, this Gen-Z thing of not knowing anything about the past or even being able to discern time periods or decades from others is weird. It's like they think, if it happened more than 10 years ago, it basically all was the early 80s.
February 3, 2026 at 3:59 PM
And Ilya & Shane's story is not THAT long ago. Like, they're coming out between 2018 and 2021. When they're in their late 20s. Like... it's not even like they're coming out when they're in their 40s or something. They're prime internet user age.
February 3, 2026 at 3:40 PM
Like, I saw a comment like "modern Ilya would be posting the most chaotic coming out video" and I'm like didn't they canonically get outed because Hayden sent a fan a Cameo? Ilya could've had a coming out video, bro, they had coming out videos 20 years ago
..
February 3, 2026 at 3:37 PM
You'd think Ilya and Shane's story took place in the 1980s the way some Gen-Z fans talk about them like they wouldn't know basic current things like TikTok or rap music in 2026. Or even that they wouldn't be doing certain social media things in 2018 or whatever.

AMC really be fumbling at promotion because why was Lestat not at the Grammys last night?
February 3, 2026 at 1:43 AM
I'm ngl, Claudia/Madeleine isn't the best wlw rep, but it does make narrative sense, and I was rooting for them so bad 😭

My only real issue with it is a problem that the show didn't create. And that's Claudia bent trapped in her 14yo body.

Like, so far, still no good arguments for why the queer representation in Bridgerton s4 isn't poorly done...
Just arguments that sound like "I like the show and I want to see Francesca's wlw romance, and you're not allowed to find flaws in any of this, and also you are yaoi brained"
February 2, 2026 at 6:28 AM
I wanna talk about Wonder Man, too, because it's so good. And it'll prove I don't just want everyone to be queer. Because that's not what I'm on. I just think Bridgerton played with queerness and did it poorly. And they also took a queer coded character and made her straight for no real reason.
February 2, 2026 at 6:25 AM
Louis? Queer. Lestat? Queer. Claudia? Queer. Armand? Queer. Daniel? Queer. I think the only non-queer characters are Louis's family and MAYBE Antoinette and Lilly, but they die too soon for us to really know that for sure, anyway. All the main characters are queer in some way.
February 2, 2026 at 6:22 AM
So, the Bridgerton fandom concensus is that Eloise being queer would've been narratively lazy, and I don't understand why they think that??? It doesn't need to be either or. Fran can be gay and El can still be gay.
I think I'm spoiled because I watch IWTV and everyone is queer.

I'm on episode 3 of the new season of #Bridgerton, and it has yet to disabuse me of my suspicion that the writers and showrunner don't actually believe bisexuals exist. They're simultaneously doing a "Benedict just needs the right woman," arc and a, "Francesca isn't attracted to her husband," arc.
February 1, 2026 at 1:51 AM
Idk, I always feel like I need to watch a few episodes to give something a chance, but if it bothers me this much and the fandom likes it and thinks I'm nuts... maybe this season just isn't for me and it's time to move on from Bridgerton. Which sucks, because I loved that show.
February 2, 2026 at 4:53 AM
Something needed to take it seriously and validate it. There are dozens of ways that could've been done, and many ways before you get to "gender swap Sophie". But it didn't feel done well for me. It gave me the ick. If it wasn't for Benedict, I'd watch for Sophie, tbh. I like her!
February 2, 2026 at 4:51 AM
The issue isn't that Sophie is a woman, although it's kind of weird that they didn't gender swap her by they did gender swap Michaela. The issue is that the narrative seems to suggest that Benedict being interested in men is part of his vice. The "bad boy era" that he needs to get over.
February 2, 2026 at 4:51 AM
Also? I like Sophie and it sucks that she has to be the love interest in the season that I don't want to watch. Immediately, I liked her. She's lovely, pretty, confident, and real. I get WHY Benedict would like her. And again, bisexual men can be in romances with women and still be bisexual.
