Listening to anti-immigration racist bullshit on @lbc.co.uk this morning. The guy is claiming to speak to 'most people in this country' most days. 🙄🙄

This morning my mind is loud. All of the negativity is at the surface. It's just going to take a little extra energy to challenge them, and push them down.

So today we begin in a beautiful navy dress, and war paint in the form of red lipstick and eyeliner flicks.

I can do this, and so can you.

Nothing like wearing a pretty dress on a sunny day, basking in the joy of the TS 12 announcement ✨️

Today I bobbed my hair and invested in an 80s power jacket. ✨️

Pushing back against my loud brain today looks like cleaning the kitchen on my hands and knees. This is a win. A small one, but a win all the same.

Date for your diary: 10th September, Arena Theatre Wolverhampton. Screening of Pouring Water on Troubled Oil - the amazing story of when BP took Dylan Thomas to Iran to make a promotional film. Spoiler: it did not go well.

Screening, interview with director Nariman Massoumi, talk by Andy Webb…

The worst romantic fate for women and girls in this scenario is that they are “left on the shelf”; not rejection, but being ignored? Of course the worst *sexual* fate remains sexual violence — where men and boys simply reject their rejection, something under the surface of much far right sex advice.

In this framing, it’s always boys and men who have to deal with rejection, because girls and women never put themselves in a position where they can be rejected. Women and girls have power, but no agency.

Narratives about how hard it is for teenage boys, and subsequently men, to deal with romantic rejection are so weird to read, as a woman who was also once a teenager. Until you realise that they’re entirely built on the premise that girls and women are the gatekeepers to sex and relationships.

Can’t believe the government and BBC have done this. By sharing the addresses of hotels housing asylum seekers with Deliveroo and others they have at one stroke criminalised all asylum seekers and put a target on the back of every delivery person. #r4today

Note to broadcasters: the bad guys are the racists terrorising innocent people in hostels and hotels.

Not sure where we are now at that this has to be pointed out.

Not me starting a blog post called "I'm not a bloody cactus*"

*working title, to convey how I feel about the topic
"Resilience" is often a term bandied about by corporations to take the focus off poor culture and make it a "you" problem. If only *you* were a bit more resilient, it'd all be fine. It's a control tactic.

The thing is, goodness relies on making a bunch of little choices every single day to do the best you can do on that day, which is ideally better than you did yesterday.

The moment you divide the world into Unshakably Good and Irredeemably Bad, you’ve erased the possibility of actual goodness.
