The worst romantic fate for women and girls in this scenario is that they are “left on the shelf”; not rejection, but being ignored? Of course the worst *sexual* fate remains sexual violence — where men and boys simply reject their rejection, something under the surface of much far right sex advice.

In this framing, it’s always boys and men who have to deal with rejection, because girls and women never put themselves in a position where they can be rejected. Women and girls have power, but no agency.
