I try to keep my kids off my socials. They deserve an unencumbered childhood. But I'll share this. We spent much of Tuesday listening to @booker.senate.gov's historic speech. And then, yesterday, my 11yo daughter gave me this. I asked her where the quote was from. "I made it up," she said.
It's quite incredible how much Founders wrote down and how much of what they wrote down we still possess. Helps to cut back against ideas that, "ounders couldn't have foreseen X." No, not only could they have, they did. Again, the only thing they did not (seem) to foresee was a cowardly Congress.
It is bracing to reread the Framers’ bone-deep fears about foreign corruption of the presidency and realize Trump is exactly what they were trying to prevent. slate.com/news-and-pol...

Great example of what we're losing when we lose @polygon.com and its writers. You need to really understand these worlds, their art, and more to ask meaningful questions that you can then use to craft an article like this. Sad day...

“In journalism, there are really bad jobs. And then there is a place like Valnet,” a former Collider contributor told TheWrap. “[It’s] one of the worst places that I’ve ever worked and is probably one of the worst journalism publications I’ve ever seen.”

🪦Polygon. You were one of the good ones...
Polygon staffers, including co-founder and EIC Chris Plante, say the video games website has laid them off; sources say Vox Media sold Polygon to Valnet (Ethan Gach/Kotaku)

Our rabbit - who runs free in the backyard during the day - has taken to sleeping in a planter. It is very cute.

Guess who just won the lottery?! Our farm box delivered 18 eggs as a dozen.

Yes, I did email them to let them know and offered to pay for the 18... But still, in the moment, felt like a major win.

@wired.com feel like y'all need to do a collab with @theonion.com this where this is a fast follow to first ever "Country Suicide" where a nation hurled itself into recession and domestic strife by electing... Well, I will leave it in your capable editorial hands.

this single screenshot is America in a nutshell right now. Mythological ubermensch who must be smart because he's rich cannot do basic arithmetic, and it's merely an afterthought to an actual US Congressional candidate spreading a crazy conspiracy theory on a site dedicated to right-wing propaganda.

The thing that I continually find so strange about AI hype is that we are jettisoning and dismantling a bunch of proven very good systems *now* for something that we *hope* *might* be *as good* as those systems *some time* in the future. Which is absolutely contra to all best engineering practices.
A generation of infants are being born HIV+ today who should have been born HIV-free because one of the principal propagandists of AI bullshit in the world dismantled PEPFAR and USAID.

Like protesting, small acts of resistance do matter. Add your comments to the Schedule F proposal starting April 23.
Wrote this in 2023, but it is relevant again because Trump proposing a new Schedule F rule. The basic issues remain the same, as does the value of public comment. You can submit a comment starting on April 23 and until May 23.

Like "Ratatouille" - "anyone can cook." "This does not mean anyone can be a great chef. Rather that a great chef can come from anywhere." *Every* American is not unsafe. But *any* American *can be*.
The point isn't that every American necessarily *is* unsafe now. The point is that every American has to wonder.
Are Any of Us Safe Now?

I know it's been quite normalized, but it really is very strange that people whom the status quo made inordinately rich and powerful somehow concluded that destroying the status quo was the way to become even more rich and powerful. Like, really? The "system" and gov't played no role in your wealth?

@theatlantic.com timeline doesn't seem to back up the *Walter Bloomberg* tweet being the source of the rally. Tweet is timestamped 10:13AM EDT. But at that time, the brief rally was already well underway.

First of what I expect will be many clear assertions that whatever "plans" (using the term very loosely) that the Trump admin and broligarchs might have, they all take for granted things that absolutely should not be taken for granted.

Weird how they only ever challenge the results when they lose... That said, nothing to be flippant or joke about here. Hoping a higher court puts this madness to rest. But if not, get ready to volunteer and help out these NC voters. Thank you as always to @marcelias.bsky.social for his leadership.
NEW: A Republican-majority panel of the North Carolina Court of Appeals ruled to disenfranchise up to 65,000 voters in the state's contentious Supreme Court election unless they can fix their ballots in 15 days.
