Why do so many @mark-carney.bsky.social supporters quote @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social when Mamdani stands for supporting workers over billionaires?
Carney like Cuomo stands with the rich against the poor and thus one would think he was more their speed

In #Canada both #Federal and #Provincial governments have the ability to build the infrastructure and services people need, it's called investing in your own people.
#neoliberalism dictates that they give our money to private interests instead and find excuses for why life doesn't get better.

Austerity and attacks on collective bargaining! Man this conservative government is something.
Liberal government wants to change arbitration rules for public servants
The changes to the Public Sector Labour Relations Act would alter the arbitration process for public service bargaining units.

Here are my political predictions for the next few years in Canada:
1st - Enough CPC MP's are going to defect to the Liberals to ensure the budget passes
2nd - PP will resign after the leadership review in January and will be replaced as CPC by Doug Ford

When I was a child I would try and use the excuse "but everybody else is doing it" and she would always respond "and if everybody else jumped off a bridge, would you?"
Now #Canada is abandoning #climatechange for #oil and #gas and literally using the justification "but everybody else is doing it"

Yes - socialism agendas work because striving for equality is something most humans actually prefer. Give the billionaires a trophy for winning capitalism then tax them out of existence. Capitalism works best when there is a government that enacts rules, oversight and watchdogs.
You give me hope that politics can be turned around still. From Canada I hope our politicians take note that a campaign like yours can win. I hope you can succeed is doing what you want to do for your city.

Appreciate the high speed rail — but what about the rest for working-class Canadians? Cutting taxes on private jets for the 0.01% may help corporations, but won’t help those who will lose their jobs because of AI and austerity.

Write the @ndp.ca folks! Make sure their MPs know how Canadians feel!
The Bloc just said they will not support it on CBC Montréal. That leaves the @ndp.ca and don’t you dare support this or abstain @donvdavies.bsky.social
The Conservatives are not supporting the budget according to Lantsman, the GPC are not supporting it according to Elizabeth May, the BQ and the NDP refuse to commit right now.

All the red tape/work requirements etc put on social safety net programs aren't there to improve the efficiency of the program and are functionally useless.
They're there to make the rest of us feel morally superior to poor people and reassure us we won't end up like "them".

study after study after study shows that literally just handing people money and telling them "do what you want with this" reduces homelessness, increases food security for children, makes it more likely people will find and retain jobs.1

Every Canadian should know that the reason Canada’s O’Learys can afford to run people over with expensive boats is because they’re not taxed at a rate proportional to working Canadians. They accumulate wealth rapidly & create an oligarchy.
