A man died yesterday alone
in a stairwell in a parking garage,
lines of cars of people, alone;
I did not know him,
or if I did I did not know it,
but I know I've been only
the blade-edge of a scalpel away
from him.

It's incredible to me how many people look to Trump as their pastor (regardless of their insistence that they don't)

Since the rapture is making the rounds again, here's a poem about it I published a couple months ago. Maybe we should reframe how we think about the rapture.

Where is the modern American equivalent of the Confessing Church? Where do you see a united, ecumenical resistance to the dangerous Christian nationalism infecting our country?

I just checked the word count on the first draft of my manuscript, and I crossed the 100k word mark today!! Still a long ways to go on it, but this makes it feel... more real somehow.

Just a reminder: Russia influenced the 2016 election, and Trump was probably involved in criminal obstruction. The only reason he wasn't prosecuted was because he controlled the DOJ at the time.

"Deregulation" is code for exploitation, and it usually involves racism or other forms of caste-ism.

Could this discrepancy be due to the social norm of American individualism, a la Jesus and John Wayne?
From a paper I just read: the effect of worship attendance on one's willingness to pay higher tax so everyone can have better health care across nations. Note in most nations, the association is positive, though mostly non-significant. Just in the USA where the association is negative & significant.

tbh, I don't think Trump's base CARES whether he's in the Epstein files or not

they'd see his name in there with their own two eyes and just cheer him on all the more

Painting, but with words
instead of paint.
Same beauty, though;
same emotion.

The gospel of Jesus Christ looks very, very little like capitalism.

I think what's really freaking people out is that most Americans under 40 already have
Americans have really got to unlearn the propagandist indoctrination that socialism is bad.

It means that everyone has what they need, resources are shared, and we care for the earth & those around us.

We've been taught to hate it so capitalists can keep exploiting us and working us to death.

Btw, our congressional representatives don't actually care what we the people want. They say what they need to in order to get elected (follow the $$$), then they do what their party leader tells them to.

"Alligator Alcatraz" is the culmination of a society that believes reality ought to be a reflection of television entertainment, rather than the other way around.

Working on some thoughts on patriotism, freedom, and life.

In preparation for, you know, a certain upcoming holiday when I suspect patriotism will become confused with fascism and death.
