The break up of Thwaites Glacier's ice tongue has accelerated even more rapidly than I could have imagined since the last video I posted last week. It's possible the seaborn ice tongue for this massive glacier will be completely gone by March or April, potentially accelerating total collapse.

The ice tongue for Thwaites glacier (the "Doomsday Glacier") on AIS appears to be breaking up rapidly this year, while January is showing up at 1.75C above preindustrial averages according to Copernicus ECMWF. According to Eric Rignot, this could trigger 65 cm of GSLR.
