It’s sad that some people see love and attachment as a weakness. In truth, there is no greater motivator; grand works of art have been created and bloody wars have been fought for love. Even hate and fear hold no candle to it.

This Fourth of July is a bitter one. There is still hope, there is still light, there is still humanity in this madness; but I’m not so sure the freedoms so touted by America still reside in it, hard won by soldiers dead in foreign fields and seas. I’m not so sure they ever truly did.

I think Americans are blinded by the idea of a “great silent majority” that will step up if some vague line is crossed—completely forgetting that the American people are not faceless creatures hiding alongside us, but us ourselves. You, me, our neighbors—that is America. So, where is your line?

Sure, the best time to start that project was years ago. But! The second best? Probably the moment just after that, years ago… I guess there’s an infinite number of times that were better before now.
