"The next step is Discipline", as Robert Fripp would have it. I'm trying to scale down my online time and might disappear for a couple of days.

I wish all of you a pleasant change of years, and I'll be back sooner or later.

To introduce myself again: I am a shoggoth from Genoa, Italy, a mad sculptor of cosmic horrors since the late 90s, a digital illustrator and starving artist, a translator of Weird Fiction into Italian, and occasionally a writer. You can find me through linktr.ee/andrea.bonazzi while I'm still alive.

Thread: My fav TV shows of 2025 (or shows I discovered this year)

1. Somebody Somewhere

Loved its unusual characters, its calmness and humanity. Some family conflicts were resolved too easily (or not at all), but following Bridget Everett on her journey through laughter and tears was great fun

Glad the 3-day-madness is over
There was only a small amount of crying involved on day 2, so, I guess, it was a good one

Ten years ago, my typical Christmas would still involve four separate visits with different relatives.

This year, it would have been one. But I had to cancel.

My 2025 guide for an easy-going Christmas:

1. Get some work done first.
2. Make a plan for the rest of the day.
3. Get the presents part over with ASAP.
4. Spend every free minute setting up a new PC.
5. Be ready to go to bed by the time you would usually get anxious.

Still not quite over the eye-opening realization how much of a brainwash the German word "Arbeitgeber", i.e. employer, is.

Whereas "to CAUSE work" - understandably so - is seen as something negative, "to GIVE work" is framed as something people should be grateful for

It's Earth sunbathing its butt day!
Today is the December solstice at 15:03 GMT/16:03 CET.
This @eumetsat.int MTG‑I1 image from 19 December 2025, 06:00 GMT, shows Earth’s day–night terminator tilted near its annual maximum of about 23.5°.

Challenge to myself: only post about nice things at least until next year (thoughful observations about the shortcomings of life, reality and Christmas are permissible, snarkiness and general grumbling are not)

Finally watched the excellent film about the history of King Crimson by Toby Amies, available from @burningshed.com

Sometimes brutally honest about Fripp's perfectionism, Bill Rieflin facing the last months of his life, and what it takes to accomplish what they did

Reading about billionaire idiots pouring all their resources into the development of AI increasingly feels like "sure, building a doomsday machine / researching this deadly virus / summoning Nyarlathotep should be our TOP priority"
