Recommender algorithms controlled by unfriendly foreign powers threaten democracy and security. They artificially boost authoritarians and break society apart. They silence the rest of us.

1/Striking speech by Macron: The future of European democracy depends on taking back its digital information space. A remarkable turn from Silicon Valley as source of enlightenment to being a purveyor of slop. And the stakes aren't just ad revenue but the nation.

Believe it or not, the EU-US trade deal just got messier.

The White House has published a fact-sheet about the agreement with claims that directly contradict the European Commission's version of events.

Let's take a closer look.

The Guardian kritisoi pääkirjoituksessaan sitä, että Israel näännyttää Gazan väestöä.

Erikoista, että tämä on poikkeus. Media on ollut tämänkin aiheen suhteen oudon varovainen jo hyvin pitkään.

This is such a clear-cut rebuke of those who think Trump "is a master of the media" or "can read the room like no one else". The guy is a one-shtick pony who is lucky to live in a country where "alternative facts" are a thing.

I have a lot of respect for The Economist despite our differences, and I'm sure the article will read more nuanced than this, but this tagline is messed up no matter how you slice it.
