Feminism isn’t about anger—right? On Substack Live tonight at 7:40 PM CST we’re talking intersectionality, and the realities might have you feeling some type of way.

Crenshaw said it best: “Intersectionality is a lens through which you can see where power comes and collides.”

I was recently sharing with a colleague that I prefer to teach in an online, asynchronous environment and they expressed surprise because of the amount of planning that is involved.

Students, your professor should have a pretty solid plan regardless of how you're showing up to class.
Present company excluded but I wish more people realized that good teachers are the product of *years* of training and education and professional development and mentorship and practice, not magicians who go into the classroom and just wing it on Charisma.

Feminism isn’t about anger—but intersectionality can bring anger to the surface.

Kimberlé Crenshaw’s concept helps us see how overlapping issues affect people differently. From access to services to media representation, understanding intersectionality shows where power collides & change is needed.

I'm on the hunt for a #documentary about the United Nations Decade for Women from 1975 to 1985. Are there any recommendations?

I don't often see medication ads, but #Hulu with ads has a great deal going this year.

The Nexplanon medieval ad is delightfully bizarre.

That's the post.

I realized yesterday that I have really been sleeping on classical music for my brisk walks (I did a 20-minute mile, very far from a run!) and now I'm curious. Do you have favorite classical for fitness?

"The Planets" by Gustav Holst really is an underappreciated musical suite.

I've never been a fan of the excuse that people were a product of their time and we should excuse poor behavior.

Happy First Contact Day to those who celebrate!

The only take I am currently accepting is that our current national disaster is the first step in an 38 year plan to initiate contact with the Vulcans.

Some of Jerry O'Connell's iconic lines from Star Trek: Lower Decks episode "Starbase 80" have become favorites of my littles. Favorites include:

"The power of stairs!"
And
"All I can smell is gel!"

@mikemcmahan.bsky.social and his team have truly given us a gift.

One assertion that I think is fair to make is that the precision of words matters.

An Executive Order is different from a Presidential Memorandum. As I understand it, the transparency requirements are more significant with an EO.

It is absolutely not appropriate to use those terms interchangeably.

One thing I've been working on in therapy is to create dopamine moments.

After days like today, taking control of my space and my future by doing dishes and working on homework is what that dopamine hit looks like.

Self-care is different every day, and that's okay.

Here's your angry Tuesday morning reminder that how we experience our bodies is infinitely more complex than what you learned in high school.

This is critical for us to remember. I really appreciate TikToks' ability to connect marginalized people, help financially disenfranchised folks empower themselves, and more.

I will be glad if/when it's back, but we need to remember that this is an abuse tactic taking place on a national scale.

When it comes to domestic labor, I am at my most productive when I have academic work waiting for me afterwards.

For weeks, the best my kitchen could hope for was a full dishwasher load. Not wiping countertops or putting those rogue toys away.

Functional, but not great.

"It is weird and cruel to respond to a forest fire or flooding or a hurricane with vitriol and wild conspiracy theories," says historian Nicole Hemmer, adding that "there is real value in calling it out."

I wasn't here with the intent to doom scroll, but so far in my feed there are lightning strikes and dysentery. Is 2025 going to be okay?

If you've resisted a flashy new planner as the fix for all your "poor productivity" woes, way to be amazing! You're perfect just the way you are.

I feel like one of the most challenging things about parenting is when your young kid accidentally hurts you.

You need to tap out, but still have to reassure your kid that you love them even though they kicked you in the face.

Everyone should read this
Storytime.

In 2005, my mom died from cancer, but the real cause was the actions taken by an insurance company 12 years earlier. What happened to her was evil, hard to identify or fight, and hidden from the public by legal mechanisms. Because of that, I have no idea how often it has happened.

Well. . . .it was bound to happen eventually.

I accidentally killed a plant by overwatering.

@nateanite.bsky.social was good enough to point out that it was this point 8 years ago that I decided to go back to school for a Master's Degree.

So. . . Any tips for a doctoral application?

One of my kids says "Tickle T Tickle T" instead of "Higgledy Piggledy" and it's probably my favorite "kid faux pas".

Do you have a favorite from your own family?
