Nah, calling each other vicious names and refusing to talk to each other works super well in politics.

Just look how well America is doing.
You can be critical of this gov't - and there plenty to be critical about - without flattening everything into an unintelligible, ahistorical paste. Because doing so, is absolutely part of the problem. It enables "they're all the same" narratives, which never - ever - lead to progressive outcomes.

The Bassetlaw Greens are proud to have supported the COP 30 climate march in Sheffield today.

Last week, scientists reported that the world has crossed its first irreversible climate tipping point. Why are world leaders still dragging their feet?

How can we mobilise all these new people?

It's a big challenge for smaller parties like us, who are starting from a fairly small capacity

I mean - great problem to have, dont get me wrong 🤣 💚🥳

Emily is lovely 😍
We have welcomed a significant number of new members to the Bassetlaw Greens in recent months, so we thought we'd take the opportunity to ask them what inspired them to get involved!

Here's what Emily, who joined in October, had to say ⤵️

Yesterday, Nottingham City Council joined other councils around the country in passing a boycott and divestment motion. Powerful speech in favour of the motion by the city's Green councillor below, praising the steadfastness of the people of Nottingham in opposing the atrocities.
Unfortunately, Bluesky does not allow videos over 3 minutes in length. Full video of last night's motion can be viewed here:

These crabs have style
Oh, I love this. A new species of sea anemone was discovered recently that parks itself on top of a hermit crab shell like a hat. It seems to feed partly off the crab's faeces, but it also excretes a hard shell that extends the crab's home. In return, it's carried around the seafloor like a king.

If you don't want our next government to be Reform, whatever party you're from, the answer has to be Proportional Representation.

Labour are so close on this. Thier MPs want it. Their conference voted for it...

So close. What would get it over the line?
"Proportional Representation [is] no longer the subject of an abstract discussion on the margins, but an urgent and compelling proposition supported across our party."

In general, the media is too ready to platform randos spouting nonsense. Yes.

But that ain't this.

Jo White is our MP - the elected representative for all the people in my town. If she is saying stuff like this, I want to hear it, to know what she is saying on our behalf. Thats public interest.
One of the biggest problems with mainstream media is its regular platforming of lunatic people with mad ideas.

Particularly the BBC, which is meant to be about public education.

UK politics is broken in large part because we have lazy gatekeepers of MSM.

Which is why so many are turning off MSM.
This complete nut (Jo White mp) on #r4today reckons processing asylum claims in IRAQ - setting up offshore processing centres with British civil servants processing claims IN IRAQ is actually a sane or even money saving plan??? 🤯🤯🤯

Lost the plot entirely.

One of the worst features of the 21st century discourse is the "complex problems require complicated solutions" trope. The solutions are generally, at heart, simple. Carrying them through tends to require strategy, planning, leadership, advocacy, persistence, resources. Oh, and courage.

Clickbait conman in lack of substance shocker!
Farage “knows he has to moderate his tone and get across some budget details. But attention to detail [isn’t] his thing and responsibility bores him”…and makes a bore of him.

His success lies in him talking shite. If he can’t do that, he becomes v dull v quickly

This EDM was really good. Our local Labour MP Jo tabled it, and it had Lib Dem, Independant, Green supporters (thanks @sianberry.bsky.social ).

Just wish we could do more of this. More exams will not encourage children to read.

Straightjacket, rigid KPIs from London > actually getting stuff done across the public sector.

The worst of it is when its forced onto our children.
