I am a woman wearing many hats. Wife, mom, homeschool teacher, crafter, and learning to homestead. And trying to figure out just how to make the world a little better each day.
I have new neighbors, and two weeks ago, we were getting our mail, and I had a chance to introduce myself to the mom. We had a pleasant conversation, but during the conversation, our pending move was brought up. I told her it was because we had a son who had extreme noise intolerance.

To sleep,
Perchance to dream
Not the comfort
It would seem.
I look askance
At yonder bed
And fear the visions
In my head.
For when I 'pon
My pillow lay
And ponder goings
Of the day,
Tis then that demons
Come to play
And fill my brain
With aweful dread.
Sleep is the place
Where fear is bred

I knew the day was going to be long. Raced out of the house without breakfast or the required amount of caffeine. Since I know myself and feel bad for those who have to suffer my presence sans caffein, I treated myself to the best iced coffee I ever had. I'm just doing my part to help humanity.

I live in Michigan, and this winter was long. There is a saying you know you're from ... well, you know you're from Michigan when it hits 50 and everyone is out in tee shirts and shorts.

So, we finished our taxes which are very basic. State refund for MI came fast. I know that the fed was not going to be mailed until the first part of March. However, in the last two years, we needed additional verification and our fed return took 6 months to arrive. Has this happened to anyone else?

Homeschooling allows me to be creative in planning lessons. It also lets the boys determine different paths. If we stumble on a topic the boys say is "cool," I am willing to go down a rabbit hole with them. You never know just what you might discover and the conversations you might get to have.

This last week could have been described using a fortune cookie. "An unexpected delivery will bring fortune and happiness."

Today, my intention was to loaf all day. Maybe even stay in pajamas. But alas, that was not to be so. Work had to be finished, and those pesky kids demanded food. Oh, well. 😔

I am a homeschooling mom to a special needs child. The news and what could happen to those kids in public school is heartbreaking. They are being singled out, and I don't believe it comes from good intentions. My prayer today is for the parents and gardians of these incredible students to be strong.

I worked almost 20 years at a quilt shop. That was the best job ever. However, I now have what my husband believes is an unhealthy obsession with fabric. With a move in the future, my stash must be reduced. So this afternoon, I started to organize projects. Goal 1 UFO per week.

Our son is nonverbal. If you ever saw the movie Bumblebee, he communicated thru the radio. We have the same situation at home. I know how our son is feeling based on his choice in music. He has sleeping music, activity music, music when he is solving problems, and music for when he is frustrated.

My son has autism and days are nontraditional. We have a schedule geared toward him. However, he is not the only child in the house. Insuring the other kids feel they are receiving equal attention is hard. Special needs parents have to deal with a level of guilt I don't think everyone understands.

My garden is waiting for spring but still providing food for the birds.

I had to go to our local garden center yesterday. Needed something not garden related, but...there were bags of soil for sale. My budget is tight. There is not much extra I can get. However, I had a little money given to me for Christmas. Saw the bags and bought them all. Seed starting this weekend.

Today, I will be out of the house all day. How does this work with homeschool? Just like regular school, we have subs. Usually, this is my oldest. I prepare plans that can be done when I am not home. Vocabulary cards or pre printed sheets and readings are all good assignments when I am not at home.

Good news never comes before 8 am. My uncle passed, and although it was without pain and in his sleep, there is still so much sadness. He never had a family of his own, but growing up, he was always there... with a can of Pepsi. He was quiet but will be missed. A family corner stone has been lost.

We are getting ready to move. The plan was to move in three years, but that plan might need to be moved up. There is nothing I can do, but wait and see if my husband loses his job. So, to stop making myself nuts, I'm going to start separating what I don't need one drawer and closet at a time.

My family of 5 is a paycheck to paycheck family. We do not eat out, and our grocery cart never sees name brands or snack items. We shop for cooked meals using basic ingredients. That being said, I went to the store this morning's budget, was $50 for the week. Made it thanks to instore sales/coupons.
