The car I wanted to buy in 2024 now costs $800 more than it did. I should have bought it before the tariffs or during the manufacturer's "pre-tariff pricing" event, but I decided to wait since I need the $$$ to prepare for everything else getting more expensive.

It was all a lie, anyway. As usual.
Checks of the size and scope suggested by Trump would likely cost far more money than what the tariffs are projected to bring in, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget. https://nbc4i.co/496ZTNn?utm_medium=social&utm_source=bluesky_

I can't believe anyone voted for a profiteering criminal who is fighting his obligation to take care of citizens tooth and nail while partying in his golf club and smashing our White House. It's as surreal as it is dumb.
A federal appeals court late Sunday rejected the Trump administration’s bid to halt an order requiring full SNAP payments during the government shutdown. https://nbc4i.co/4hSJBdn?utm_medium=social&utm_source=bluesky_

TRUMP DOES NOT RESPECT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. AT ALL
"All Air Traffic Controllers must get back to work, NOW!!! Anyone who doesn't will be substantially 'docked,'" Trump said in a social media post on Monday. "For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid, IN FULL, shortly into the future, I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU," Trump said. I’d like to know who the f*@ck he thinks he’s talking to? Tech companies? Universities? Law firms? Media giants? The GOP Congress? No. He’s talking to the actual people who keep the country running. The people who make sure no one crashes and burns in an airplane. The people who are working, and have been, without pay just because the Trump administration only knows one way to resolution…his way or not at all. He’s talking to people who show up when they don’t have to. For the country. I know he’s spent his life threatening with the power of his wealth. He has scammed and bamboozled and sued his way to success. He has quid pro quo-ed with extortion, always. Now, against all reason and logic,he has been granted the power of the presidency. But instead of using that power carefully, cautiously, methodically to achieve his goals, he has rampaged across the world creating universal chaos that will take a generation to repair. Or longer. Or ever. So while Mr. Trump throws yet another extravaganza on his taxpayer-funding outing to Mar-a-Lago, unveiling a new lobster buffet that included “shrimp towers, lobster tails, caviar for miles,” and stalls the legal system to prevent the government feeding hungry Americans, we the people watch and grow more and more angry at a party that accepts everything he throws at them. And us. We’ll wait and see how the most recent attempt to reopen the government goes. Low expectations are the rule of the day. And any promises made to the Dems by Reps to get them to accept a t&*d sandwich, are always subject to suspicion. We’ve been Charlie Browned by Lucy one too many times. But no matter the outcome, it has absolutely been proven that the Trump administration could care less about any harm done. Or any solution that doesn’t include pain and suffering for the people. There are no new words to be used about how totally FUBAR every day in America has become.

From a constituent in 📍 Reading, PA
How Dare You Cave Now
I write to you not as a cordial constituent but as a witness to your betrayal. You claim to “support” the enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits. You voted to reopen the government without securing any concrete protections or binding legislation to extend those credits. That is not leadership. That is cowardice dressed in compromise. Let me remind you of your own words: “Keeping the government open is our core responsibility … and then we would negotiate to extend those tax credits.” “I voted AYE to extend ACA tax credits because I support them—but I won’t vote for the chaos of shuttering our government.” Fine. But the moment you reopened the government without guarantees, you forfeited any moral high ground. Millions of Americans depend on those credits. Their premiums will spike. Their coverage will vanish. And you traded their futures for … what? A “better way forward”? A promise to talk later? A “sincere conversation” with the other side? Here’s the naked truth, Senator: • You prioritized process over people. • You allowed your party’s leverage to unravel. • You let vulnerable Americans stand in the crosshairs of broken promises. • You joined the ranks of those who say the right thing—then do the wrong thing. If you truly loved affordable healthcare, you would have insisted on binding language, not just vague reassurances. If you truly believed you could “have a sincere discussion,” you’d have locked it down before reopening the government, not after. That’s not good policy. That’s safe politics. What must you do now? • Immediately introduce and support legislation that locks in the ACA enhanced credits for the full term required (and make them permanent or at least extend them meaningfully). No more “later.” • Refuse to vote for any further continuing resolution or stop-gap funding until that legislation is passed. Because you relinquished your leverage already—don’t give the Republicans your leverage again. • Communicate clearly to your constituents why you did what you did, admit the trade-off, and explain how you will fix this — not just “work” on it, fix it. • Hold yourself accountable. Next time, don’t just accept “because the government must stay open” as an excuse. That’s always the government’s obligation—but that doesn’t mean you surrender your bargaining power. Senator, you are not doing right by your people if you allow this moment to be forgotten. If you let the ACA credits expire while claiming you “supported” them—you’ll own the aftermath. And the people will remember who took action, and who simply talked. I expect you to do more than “believe” or “hope” or “discuss.” I expect you to fight. Be the senator you told us you’d be.

Gross! So immoral.
This is what premiums spike to for a man with cancer who is a taxi driver in AZ (met his son). This is Ambetter, operated by private health insurer Centene. It's why we need to extend the ACA credits & fight for Medicare for All.

The GOP assault on healthcare and vulnerable Americans must end.
I am writing to urge you to reject the proposed deal to reopen the government. This so-called compromise gives away hard-earned leverage without securing even the most basic protections for the Affordable Care Act. It is a political mistake and a moral one. Republicans have just suffered a generational defeat at the ballot box. Voters made it crystal clear that they reject the cruelty, corruption, and chaos of Trump’s Republican Party. Now is absolutely not the time to hand them an unearned victory. They created this shutdown crisis; they can and should be the ones to fix it — without Democrats cleaning up their mess for them. The American people are tired of watching Democratic leaders give in to Republican hostage-taking. We expect our representatives to hold firm, defend health care, and demand real accountability. Conceding to a deal that does nothing to protect Obamacare, workers, or the social safety net betrays the very voters who delivered Democrats their mandate. Please make it clear that this caucus stands for something stronger than appeasement. We need Democrats who will fight for working people, not enable Republican obstruction. The shutdown must end on fair terms — terms that protect the public, not reward those who caused the harm in the first place. Thank you for your service and for standing up for your constituents. I hope you will vote no on this reckless deal and show that our party still knows how to lead with conviction.
