The human body is an amazing thing. Yesterday I couldn't put a new weight on my right knee. It was actually visibly swollen, some ice packs and some deep heat later (any good night sleep) and not only could I walk on it I went for a cycle ride this morning..

I find it absolutely hilarious watching YouTube videos of Americans fawning over silenced to shotguns. They all seem to believe that this is totally unique and their gunsmith is the only person who ever thought of it. If you come to the UK they're not exactly uncommon....

So it's about now we start to think about Goals for 2026. For me they're going to be all sporting again. I want to do a marathon in around 3:15, I would like to run 100 km in one go. I would like to give blood. And I might try and do the summer fan dance in under 4 hours 10 minutes (clean fatigue)

Probably my top highlight of the year was this run. I only started running two years ago so I'm quite happy that I've now managed to get down to 3:30 ! Managed to fall over at 35 km hence hence a little bit slower...If I managed to not fall over I suspect I'd probably could have done just under 3:30

4000km run this year! The last 200 km was very hard as I've been fighting a cold. This morning was meant to be 30 kilometres about 25 kilometers I just have to cut it short as I'd lost my voice and eating oat cakes was hard with my throat. I can rest for the rest of the year now

for me it was my 1st year of road / gravel cycling. I managed to complete the London to Brighton ( and then back again) , dragon ride and the tour de Ricky ( plus a little more). Finishing the dragon ride was the highlight

My attitude to running at the moment :) just have my eyes on the prize - once I get there I can rest - I seem to have distance dysmorphia

Last week it seems like every third person I met was ill. It finally caught up with me yesterday evening and I've slept for the last 24 hours. Tried to go for a cycle ride this morning and almost collapsed in the garden. I feel as weak as a baby kitten - I have a long run tomorrow morning

www.theguardian.com/world/2025/d... there is a lesson in this, if you allow in the legal market to run you don't get to dictate how the data gets used. The west should also think hard about this when they privatize certain sensitive databases such as healthcare.
