Rockin' this name on The Internet(tm) since EFnet 1992 (#coders; #trax before #trax!); formerly of KFMF/TFX/Defiance/Epinicion; Ph.D.; more federal agencies than J.C. Denton; world's demisexualest man; lifelong teetotaler; Wasteland 2 & 3; Gen-Con!
Always hard in an election year deciding when to stop using social media and reading news; I usually manage to wait until a week or so before the election, but I think once Ms. "Trump So Dangerous I Will Definitely Vote For Him" drops out and the media switches to "Biden Will Lose" I am about done

Self-promotion has never really interested me but as we are almost up to 30 episodes of "All Year I Dream About Gaming Conventions" I can probably talk about it on BlueSky at least once(!)

Newest is our follow-up episode about the berserk Gen Con Indy hotel lottery:

I pride myself on being 100% earnest in affections and desires at all times but sometimes I think about how there is an argument to be made that by refusing to play shitty emotional games with women, with this knowledge that they expect/seek? that behavior, that I am somehow still playing said games

It's incredible that liberals in America still believe that a Joseph Welch "Have you no sense of decency?" moment is still possible.

We live in a post-shame society. Violent fascists are celebrated for murdering marginalized victims. You're not going to shame or debate them into retirement.

Ever since Donald Trump first became a political candidate in 2015, journalists have struggled to cover him in a way that serves news consumers.

Now, Trump is marching toward his third Republican nomination for president, and this time around, he's even more complicated, says NPR’s public editor.

I wish nepo babies were a thing in academia, then my father's Ivy League doctorate might have actually helped me in any way besides helping me serve as a cautionary tale of just how impossible it is to get a job in academia (I could not even get hired as an adjunct in my area, if you were curious)

I am not cool enough to join the "post a picture of yourself right now" chains but I do need to eventually show off how clearly accurate Torrent's caricature of me is, and how nerdy a backdrop we are dealing with here

Speaking as someone with years of experience as an immigration official: Elon Musk provided material support to terrorists and could have his citizenship revoked. I mean, there is a 0% chance he will even get in trouble for it, but it is a fun thought to have

A fascist took over Twitter and is turning it into a tool for fascist propaganda — and elected Democrats are acting as if nothing has changed.

Musk is a MAGA Republican and X is a MAGA network. If you wouldn’t appear on Fox or Truth Social, you shouldn’t appear on X. Its come to that point.

As far as I can tell, if you find any group overtly funding Christianity in 2024 you will find a fascist organization
Your reminder the organization behind those Christian "He Gets Us" ads you'll see during the Super Bowl also gives tens of millions of dollars to the Alliance Defending Freedom, the far-right lawyers who overturned Roe and write most of the anti-trans laws in the country
Non-profit rebranding Jesus for Gen Z also funds hate group
The Servant Foundation, known for its He Gets Us ad campaign, is the main funder for Alliance Defending Freedom

The most negative thing I will ever say about my exes is that almost without exception every one of them fucking HATED sleeping and treated it like THE ENEMY and that is something I absolutely want to avoid for the rest of my life, which is part of the reason I am not sure I will ever date again

Serious question, can you use AI yet for something good like automatically filtering out pictures of Trump or removing sections of news articles that discuss what Republicans had to say on an issue? I mean for that matter I also want sports and celebrity news removed but the first two are vital
