I'm excited to share the latest work from our lab! Led by the amazing @mlmcgraw.bsky.social , we used chronic non-discriminatory social defeat stress to investigate how stress influences motivated behavior during and after stress exposure in males and females.

And, as I said yesterday: A large protest is a safe protest. Normies, please go! White folks, especially!
I’ve seen a lot of hand wringing about the dangers of going to No Kings protests and gently, I want to tell people to chill a little. These are permitted marches and the point is to be out there and seen en masse. Please don’t scare off people who are maybe going to their very first protest

Brutal account of what it’s like to teach at the University of Florida right now in the NYT—extraordinary climate of fear. People afraid to say intersectional and talk about lynchings. Fake students trying to entrap Muslim faculty or just making things up altogether. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/07/o...

Say more, Senator. Who, specifically, are you afraid of? Who do they work for? To which political party do they belong? What are they doing/saying in particular to make you afraid? Why will you not explicitly call out the perpetrators and organizers of this mass campaign of terror?
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R): "We are all afraid…I am oftentimes very anxious myself about using my voice because retaliation is real."

As an Autism scientist and someone who cares for neurodivergent kids and relatives, I am deeply disgusted by every statement RFK Jr made. It is not only a bunch of lies, it is insulting to every autistic individual. I am also disgusted by everyone that made this possible.
NEW from me: RFK Jr. made it clear at a press conference that he'd promote "environmental factors" (read: vaccines) as a cause of autism, and trotted out a new phrase, "epidemic denial," to label people who disagree with his interpretation of data. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
RFK Jr. Is using a new study on autism rates to push his anti-vaccine agenda
While researchers try to determine why autism rates seem to be rising, Kennedy made it clear he’ll try to put his thumb on the scale.

Look. This is not an accurate description of autism. But some people with disabilities are nonverbal, or can't play baseball or to need help in the bathroom. Some people need round the clock care. Their lives are valuable and meaningful and we're a better society when we recognize that.
The full quote from RFK, Jr. is truly disgusting and this is 100% him calling for institutionalization of autistic people. This is horrifying.

The lesson for universities is you may as well fight back. You'll lose the money either way. The only question is whether you keep your dignity.
Exclusive: Weeks after President Donald Trump’s administration ordered NIH to pull $250 million in biomedical research grants to Columbia University, the agency is freezing all remaining grant money owed to the university until further notice. scim.ag/4if5Rg1
