I often hear that Australians don’t “do” trick-or treat at Halloween, or that it’s “an American thing” but in my childhood back in Scotland on the 31st Oct we always went “guising” - dressing up and knocking on doors, maybe reciting a poyum, for sweets.

My Australian myGov account was closed due to too many failed logins.

I created a new one, and I’ve found that after enabling passkeys you can disable password login. Good to see govt taking security seriously.

Ok! Did you know that the character of Spock & the Vulcan “live long and prosper” 🖖🏽 is actually drawn from the Torah & informed by Nimoy’s Jewish heritage?

As a child, Nimoy was in synagogue & snuck a look at the Konahim blessing 🖖🏽. ST centered pluralistic society & he made it part of his character
aoc please do go on forever about star trek

I watched The Thing with my kid last night.

It’s fun seeing his reaction to movies filmed 40 years ago - he’s so used to crisp 4K and realistic CGI.

He described the movies monsters as cursed - he’s not wrong! They have retained their ick. A classic movie in my book.

Important: Similar to your likes, your block list is public data!

While users of the Bluesky app can’t easily find this list now, the data is public and enumerable at the protocol level. This means that third-party apps or clients can surface and display your list.
