So people told me about a hard mode final boss on Sonic Frontiers, and that I could just reload my save and change the difficulty midgame.
And yeah, that was a nice extra. Not too insane but definitely a step up if you don’t play a lot of vertical shooters.

I feel like 95% of that Orbitals trailer is "it's like one of my Japanese animes!", whilst trying not to think about the fact that it's another puzzle platformer. If you like that kind of gameplay, awesome... but aesthetics are carrying it a *lot*.

It's such a strange game. Genuine awesome bits (cyberspace levels, parrying kaiju) and the heart hunting was okay in theory, but the amount of hearts to collect sometimes made me die inside. Big "just get to the next cool moment" energy.

Sonic Frontiers update: okay we’re just doing straight up radio towers now. I preferred the whole “parrying kaiju as Super Sonic” bits.

Also, those giant kaiju boss battles as Super Sonic? They've been pretty awesome (only done two so far.) Fun gameplay ideas and nice cinematic "parry then stomp" moments.
Picked up Sonic Frontiers in a sale for lols; my first games purchase of '26. It was going to be that or Stranger of Paradise, but I decided Stranger can wait (and I have loads of RPGs and Soulslikes as it is.)

#RandomGameSaturday gave me Atari 50 (PS4) this week!
I've tried a few retro compilations in the past but this is pretty awesome. The frontend presentation is nice, and having Jaguar titles such as Tempest 2000 almost make it worth the entry fee alone.
