It's important to note here that we're not just talking about faculty & university staff. 100s of U.S. colleges are in towns or small cities where they form the major industry & lifeblood of the community. Loss of students -> loss of rent $, restaurant $, bars, bookstores, gaming stores...

As we all stagger home from vacations & begin working on syllabi in earnest, I’d offer my semesterly recommendation that @wcaleb.org's generic syllabus maker can generate a list of days your class will meet—all you have to do is delete any holidays, etc. from the list wcaleb.rice.edu/syllabusmake...

Since this was published yesterday, NPR reports JAMA joins NEJM on the list of journals that confirms they’ve been sent threatening letters by Trump’s DOJ, ominously referencing their tax-exempt status in a bid to compel regime-friendly editorial choices.
