Good practice to start in the new year.
Join me today at 5pm PST to meditate together. I'll be doing this every day for the next 28 days. We'll listen together to a guided meditation from the Waking Up app, then chat together about the experience for 20 minutes.

I missed this on its first trip around, then saw it on the "most popular with readers" list for 2025. Recommended, despite the cheesy headline.

Especially valuable if you have ever compared him to a mob boss.

DHS deported a U.S. citizen
Another case of a judge ordering ICE not to deport someone, and ICE doing it anyway. This time a US citizen, with a Maryland birth certificate & immunization records.

Her family has not heard from her.

May everyone at DHS have the Christmas they inflicted on her.

And it appears that Tesla is only operating about 5 robotaxis in Austin. IMO, they will never achieve even level 3 autonomy without LiDAR. Adding LiDAR would also require a significant training/development period. They are far far behind Waymo.

Elon Musk says this defective software will be unsupervised by the end of the year. That’s 8 days from today.

There's more to the spiked 60 Minutes story than is well understood.

The reporting about who actually had criminal records directly contradicts claims made in March by the two men supplying Trump his entire rationale for extraordinary powers.

I’m surprised they can’t handle intersections where the traffic lights don’t have power. It does happen from time to time.
Much of SF lost power last night. Waymos blocked intersections across the city, even though they are Wayless than 1% of cars on the roads. They accumulated at their failure points--intersections with no green lights, in busy areas, and shut down traffic there.

It’s the “season of love and giving”…but this year, doesn’t it seem more like a “season of fear and taking”? Like many of you, I’ve been saddened by the human impact of draconian government budget cuts and how angry many housed Americans are at unhoused Americans.
