Medicare should be extended to all children 18 and younger, and honestly this should be a no- brainer which appeals to people across the political spectrum. Children are our future! They don’t work and they can need a lot of medical care early in life.

#genealogy This extrapolates to all people. There is no time for the children of immigrants to hate new immigrants. It's not only hypocrisy, it's cruel. Learn about your family and you'll see the parallels. #irish

Excellent idea.
The Boston Tea Party was December 16, 1773. Should Dec 16 be a celebration of our history of protest, civil disobedience?

Fall in New York. Goldenrod, Poke berries and a field of yellowing kidney beans. One glorious sunny day after another. We’re in the midst of a New York drought, which means that its only rained a few times in the last month. I expect it’ll be a great year for finger lakes wine.

My sources for trustworthy news coverage of America are increasingly PBS and international media.

Last year I was able to get a half-pint of elderberry syrup from the elderberries I planted 4 years ago, and I was pretty happy about that. Enough to have over ice cream occasionally. This year I made just under 2 quarts, and the progression is a bit ominous.

At a dog friendly cafe, and the golden at the next table is staring fixedly at the family with toddlers and making more or less surreptitious forays under their table

Went from a funeral to a Pride Contra dance to a family dinner wearing the same black and blue paisley skirt, points to me.

I listened to ACIP vote on a new RSV monoclonal antibody for newborns, which passed 5-2. It was also added to Vaccines for Children so it will be available regardless of insurance, 7-0. I think its very different to be a paid vaccine skeptic, and to publically vote in a way that endangers babies.

Talking to my Mom about LGBTQ issues and her senior community. I think the most effective slogan going forward might be Mind Your Business. Does what people might be doing in their own bedrooms make you uncomfortable? Well, Mind Your Business.

The Erie canal in Bushnell’s Basin is lined with black locust trees in full flower. Trees 60-100’ high, bedecked and fragrant, the canal and towpath strewn with white petals

The way to make American goods more competitive is the same way most countries do it: public healthcare. American factories pay for health care. You buy a US product you pay for US healthcare. You buy a foreign product, and you don’t pay our healthcare costs.

My Mom and I had an interesting discussion on tariffs at lunch. She pointed out that building factories is hugely expensive, but companies do it because they believe a new factory (overseas) will make money over the long term.

I resent that it takes so much effort to track down propaganda from both sides, and determine if the outrage is real. An article loudly proclaims that a guy has been declared dead by Social Security and attibutes it to DOGE, but this happens (to far too many people) every year. I want statistics.

let them be caught in the schemes they have devised.

It’s getting increasingly difficult to get past the AI chatbot to a live human customer service rep. I don’t mind AI customer service chatbots. Most problems are simple. No human should have to repeat “is the power light on?” 300x a day. But sometimes chatbots don’t have the answers you need.

Brainwide silencing of prion protein by AAV-mediated delivery of an engineered compact epigenetic editor
Prion disease is caused by misfolding of the prion protein (PrP) into pathogenic self-propagating conformations, leading to rapid-onset dementia and death. However, elimination of endogenous PrP halts...

The entire executive branch is running without legal accountability at this point. The Supreme Court has ruled that the President can’t be tried for any of his acts, and the President has demonstrated that he will pardon anyone who does his will, up to violent assault resulting in death.

I remember listening to Paul Harvey on the radio, making fun of federal spending. He ridiculed studies of zoonotic diseases, which are caused by pathogens with animal reservoirs that infect humans, like rabies, Ebola and lyme disease. He didn’t know the term, so he assumed it was unimportant.
