I've already written 1/16th of my next book, "Fin de Siècle to Fascism", about the origins of fascist ideology among the Decadents and aesthetes of fin-de-siècle France. Fascist scum, if you want to stay true to your roots, better start fluttering your wrists and donning your yellow carnations...

As someone with the dubious privilege of being paid to research the origins of fascism, let me stress that defeatism is giving comfort to the enemy - the worst thing you can do. A despot who exceeds his mandate has no legitimacy, democratic or otherwise. Resist now, so you don't have to later.
