Just spent ages trying to figure out what song the riff "man in the middle" was from. It's been stuck in my head all day. The internet said Abba or Bee Gees. It was neither...

... It was Michael Jackson. Because it's not "man in the middle", it's "man in the mirror". I was just singing it wrong.🤦‍♂️

Some weeks ago jacksepticeye had a game jam and I wanted to try to participate. I knew I hadn't learned enough Godot to use that but I thought maybe I knew enough Markdown to use Twine...

... I absolutely didn't, but by the end I was able to make an ASCII skull appear. Which I think is pretty cool.

My 5 yro just ran up behind me, pegged me in the back with a red balloon, yelled "FIREBALL! YOU'RE BURNING NOW!" and ran away.

He gets it.

Happy foliage season from New England!

It's been a rough stint this year with the early leaf change and all the wind. But our town common had some pretty good representation this morning. And hey, bonus Stephen King style small New England Church!

Me: "Hey man, we cool?"

My Finger: "Yeah, of course, why wouldn't we be?"

Me: "Because I used you to help eat some jalapeno peppers several hours ago and I would like to rub my eye now"

Finger: "OOOOOOOOH, that! Yeah man, I'm way over that"

Me: "Okay good" *goes to rub eye*

We have a saying where I come from:

"Keep your mouth shut and don't tell the humans you're a tank grown doppelganger infiltrating their society in advance of The Harvesting or we'll remotely liquidate you and replace you with an asset who can keep their mouths shut!"

Ah, memories.

...wait...

If I put all my resin supplies in a cool container so they're all in one place it will make me more likely to actually work on it and get the stuff done I want to get done, right?
...
RIGHT?!?

Oh, and also one of the recommended search completions was:

"Does Sun Wukong ever fight Goku?"

Which is an infuriating thing to read for, like, SO MANY reasons!!!
The Internet has once again ENRAGED me😠

I realized I don't know how Journey to the West ends. Does Sun Wukong and Co. get to the Thunderclap Temple or is it a "journey not the destination" thing?
So I asked Google.

A full page plus AI results about the videogame. Like the story didn't even exist 🤬

I LOVE this!

Upholding the law or fighting crime are NOT the same thing as supporting the police. And NEITHER are necessarily the same things as do-gooding or being righteous.

And while we're at it, oaths are sworn to The Constitution or maybe the Office of the President, NOT some meat bag.

I like this. Since under RFK Jr, Covid shots are now for people with underlying conditions that put them at risk, Michigan’s chief medical executive Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian states that not having the most recent Covid shot constitutes such an underlying condition.

I don't art well at all but I found this little dice wizard to inspiringly adorable to not give this a try. So BEHOLD!

"The Glum Guard"!

He's not happy about somthin'.
Or maybe everythin'.
His catchphrase is incoherent mutinous grumbling.

Watched World War Z for the first time the other day (my 13-year-old is on a scary movie kick) and while I knew the "twist" in advance and still think it's objectively pretty stupid, having seen it presented in the movie? WAY better in context. And while not as good as the book, I liked it a lot.

My son wanted a Kirby Birthday so we made Kirby cupcakes. They turned out pretty well I think. They ran a bit in the heat, but they were good enough for one of the other kids to 'Hannibal Lecter' one so I think that's a vote in favor, no?

Oooooooooh, THAT'S why it's the worst browser! I thought it was just a near total lack of innovation while the company sat on its OS laurels for decades. Good to know they made an active choice to be terrible.

One of our local Town fairs is this weekend so two of the kids made clay figures to submit for judging. They're both very proud of how realistic they made the rock parts look and I have to say, they do look like real rocks. We'll find out where they placed on Saturday I think.

I kind of love how The many tendrilled beast that is Halloween decorations has stretched its tentacles into some really niche corners and produced some super targeted Halloween decorations. I feel like just a few years ago things like this would have been but a fevered dream. It's great.
